Apologies, but I've updated the application format. Please adjust your submissions accordingly and take note of the Additional Notes! Thank you!

WebFlake is officially accepting applications for our Support Team! What does the Support Team do? Members of the team will be tasked with handling any and all support requests submitted, and will have the ability to lock, delete, move, and edit any support topic on our site. Wait, why do we need a Support Team when Staff does all of that already? We don't. However, we have plenty of members throughout WebFlake with exceptional skills across a myriad of platforms, software, etc. These users exemplify the type of dedication and passion that any webmaster should aspire to replicate. We feel that these members should be recognized and given additional access to assist them in their endeavors in fulfilling support requests. Are there any perks to the job? No, and you shouldn't expect any. The position is completely volunteer. You will gain access to our +Donator area and a Support Team forum where you'll be able to interact with Staff and other members of the Support Team. You'll also have a shiny new Support Team title and username color affixed to your profile. What are the expectations? Aside from meeting discretionary criteria, we only ask that you devote a respectable amount of time to our Support areas. We won't require you to fill a quota or log a specific amount of hours, but if we find that you're failing to meet reasonable standards, you will be dismissed from the team. What is this criteria you speak of? It's completely discretionary. Only Staff are privy to what it is. Great! How do I sign up? Copy / paste the format below, fill it out to the best of your abilities and submit the application in a response to this topic. Each hiring window lasts approximately seven (7) days, after which we will close the topic to additional replies (with a notification) and begin our evaluation process. The number of users we select may vary based on the number of applicants. If you are selected, we will contact you directly with additional details and/or questions. Additional Notes: Please remember to toggle the markup button () on before pasting the application, then toggle it back off. This avoids unsightly BBCode markup displaying from simple copy/pasting. When rating your English, please use whole numbers only and not decimals. If you have no answer or cannot provide an answer for any of the questions, simply enter N/A. If you fail to use the format below, you will be automatically disqualified. For "skills", please offer details (along with a rating if you wish) on what experience you have with each particular software. Please do not apply if you are affiliated with any other site similar to WebFlake. This application process can be adjusted at any time, at Administration's discretion. It is your responsibility to ensure you're updated with the information provided. I loath these sort of announcements. They come with baggage and unnecessary spectacle. Alas, I believe in transparency and have promised as much before. I'm sure, by now, most of you were familiar with DragonVoid's recent promotion to Junior Moderator and the subsequent "controversy" being whispered about on the site. Allow me to clarify this: there is no controversy. A member of our team made an egregious decision to promote DragonVoid without putting him through our rigorous vetting process, which caused some concern within the team and some known annoyance among other members. Mistakes happen. We're all human. We need to learn from them and move on and assure history does not repeat itself and that we don't set unfortunate precedents. In fairness to the community and to the rest of our team, DragonVoid has been moved back to his original +Donator usergroup until we deem that we're in need of another Staff member, at which point he will have an opportunity to present himself yet again, and earn the position. This does not imply that he is guaranteed the spot, nor does it imply he is automatically disqualified from it. We currently have nine total members on the WebFlake Staff team (including myself and Phun). When evaluating our daily numbers, our current team is more than sufficient to ensure WebFlake continues to function smoothly and efficiently. I have the utmost confidence in our current team, as they have placed their confidence in me as well. With that said, on behalf of the entire team, I'd like to extend our sincerest apologies to both DragonVoid and the WebFlake community for any confusion. This demotion has nothing to do with any actions or a lack thereof on the part of DragonVoid, but moreover a simple misunderstanding. We all wish DragonVoid the best of luck in earning the next available position, and thank him for his continued support of WebFlake!

This is not the proper venue for discussing moderator actions. However, since you decided to ask publicly.. yes, you have been issued a permanent banning from the shoutbox as of April 1st. Check your most recent warning, and you'll see why you were banned. The same reason you served a 30-day suspension. And no, permanent bannings from the shoutbox are not reversed.
-
I would imagine so. Otherwise they'd lose 90% of their clients as they phased out older versions of IPB months ago.

This topic has clearly already been answered. We don't need additional variations of the same answer. Locked.

disable "User tool", "Display name history"
Tony replied to Diconfrost VaNz's question in Invision Support Archives
Assuming you just want to hide it for members and such... ACP > Look & Feel > (choose skin) > Manage Templates / CSS > Profiles > dnameWrapper Find... <if test="hasDnameHistory:|:is_array($records) AND count($records)"> {parse striping="dname" classes="row1,row2"} <foreach loop="records:$records as $row"> <tr class='{parse striping="dname"}'> <td>{$row['dname_previous']}</td> <td><strong>{$row['dname_current']}</strong></td> <td class='altrow'>{parse date="$row['dname_date']" format="short"}</td> </tr> </foreach> <else /> <tr> <td colspan='3' class='no_messages'>{$this->lang->words['dname_no_history']}</td> </tr> </if> Replace with... <if test="hasDnameHistory:|:is_array($records) AND count($records)"> <if test="$this->memberData['g_is_supmod'] == 1"> {parse striping="dname" classes="row1,row2"} <foreach loop="records:$records as $row"> <tr class='{parse striping="dname"}'> <td>{$row['dname_previous']}</td> <td><strong>{$row['dname_current']}</strong></td> <td class='altrow'>{parse date="$row['dname_date']" format="short"}</td> </tr> </foreach> <else /> <tr> <td colspan='3' class='no_messages'><div align='center'>Access Denied</div></td> </tr> </if></if> This will display an Access Denied message in place of the display name history for any usergroup that is not a Super Moderator or Administrator. Otherwise, if you want to hide it for everyone simply comment out the block of code I instructed you to find. -
Don't forget, you have Mandrill as an option under Community Enhancements. While this may not be a resolution to this specific problem, it's often times a workaround for standard mailing troubles.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages.. please give a slow clap to Jrock for his promotion to Head Moderator. Jrock has been a rock here at WebFlake. Wait, no.. that's not right. He's been a fixture... ugh, no. Dammit! He's been wiping noses, slapping knuckles, shaking babies and kissing hands for a few years now. He routinely approves more files than any of us here, and has always been a reliable member of the team. He's slogged through the Support forums and handled his fair share of moderation duties along the way, and after his brief vacation for college, we couldn't think of a better time to promote him to his rightful place as Head Moderator. Be sure to congratulate him on a job well done!

That is a default feature available via the ModCP. ModCP > Announcements

Are you referring to our global message located at the top of the site (regarding donations)? If so:

I had a long-winded response to this, but then thought better of it. I'll keep it short and sweet, with two points: We're not a business. We are a community. Whether our announcements look "professional" or not is irrelevant. Calling someone a dumbass is considered poor customer service. If I think you're a dumbass, I'll say so -- because we're not a business. Sometimes clarification is necessary. Our guidelines weren't put together under the pretense of knowing every potential loophole or exploit that would be found in the future. There is no mention of not being able to advertise your marketplace topic in other parts of the forum, thus my clarification of such today. Could we ban users whimsically? Sure. Are we going to? Nope. Bottom line, if the subject matter is relevant and worth announcing, it'll be posted as an Announcement. Do I care if anyone reads it? Not at all. It's your responsibility to do so. This way, when we do ban users for failing to adhere to our guidelines, we can cite that announcement. Just because we offer licensed products for free here, doesn't mean we're without principle.

Just a reminder... advertising is still not permitted on WebFlake. It's not as confusing as it sounds. You may advertise a site or service using any of these three choices: Signature - you can paste a link, an image, etc to the site of your choosing, including sites that offer services such as hosting. You're welcome to link to your marketplace topic, if you have one. You may not reference your signature in any topic or post. i.e. "Hey, check out my signature for hosting!" is not acceptable. If people notice it, they will click on it. Please remember to follow all signature guidelines. Marketplace - you may create a service topic in our marketplace, advertising your service with imagery, links, etc. You can make the topic as elaborate as you like (within the confines of our guidelines), and discuss your service(s) there. You may not bump the topic, or even link to it in other discussions. If users are seeking your particular service, they will navigate to the marketplace and click on it. Paid Ad - sometimes you will notice ads that are not linked to professional companies. These ads are provided by freelance users who pay for advertising space within our community. Only regular members and guests will see these ads. I've seen users linking to their marketplace topic in a variety of discussions throughout the forum, which is not permitted. The only exception to this rule is if a user explicitly requests a 'ripped' skin, and you happen to provide that sort of service. For example: User A posts a topic in IP.Board Requests and writes: "I'm looking to have the skin at ThisDomain.com ripped. Can someone do this?". User B comes along and says "Sure! I have a skin ripping service located here: webflake.sx/topic/123-skin-rip-topic". This is permissible. If the user does not request a ripped skin, you may not advertise a ripping service. You may not enter another user's topic regarding the creation of a new website, and promote your hosting service. These sort of responses will earn you warnings and habitual offenses will result in deletion of your service topics / signatures / etc, or worse.. a ban.
-
Since you decided to ask [publicly] why you were banned by use of a another account, I'll tell you why you were banned as "skinhead". Did you conveniently forget your secondary account, "skinheadxt"? This is your third account, and yet another that is being banned.

Having ads which are not supposed to be there!
Tony replied to DarkXess's question in Invision Support Archives
I'm not being abusive, I merely have a low tolerance for people like you. Your reputation precedes you. http://webflake.sx/topic/1526-a-note-from-evarni/?p=23619 That's just a few; the rest we purged with other spam filth. Good luck. -

Do you bother reading what you're about to post before you post it? Create a dummy email if need be. Create dummy accounts on the other services. They're all free, coincidentally, just like WebFlake. Victimizing yourself isn't going to work. Not after the shit you've pulled in the last year. Nice try though. -

Stop crying about it, and learn to use an IM service. Skype, ICQ, AIM, Google+, Facebook.. or here's a revolutionary thought: email. For the record, if the site is nothing in similarity to WebFlake, then you're free to link it in a support topic if it is requested. Our guidelines aren't written in a foreign language; pretty clear English. -
We're pleased to announce the newest addition to our Junior Moderators: Norg. Hailing from the UK, from parts unknown, Iain has been a contributing member here at WebFlake for some time, who I've had the personal pleasure of building a wonderful rapport with. He's already won over a few members of our team, so his addition was really a no-brainer. You'll find him hustling his way through support and the occasional backdoor upload. Be sure to give him a warm WebFlake welcome, and put his ass to work!

Merged this "rate my new header" topic with the old showcase topic. They're essentially the same thing, as a website review covers the header. Fairly common sense.
