  1. Oopsies. Check that again, @. Seems Advanced Members didn't have access.
  2. That may be the case, but Q&As aren't getting it done. I've been flagging no less than a half-dozen spam accounts per day for months now. Switching to this new system has potential to alleviate that and will in turn streamline the registration process a bit more. Having people Google unorthodox song lyrics is a painful measure of expectation to burden new users with.
  3. Files are sometimes overlooked. We get a plethora of submissions daily, most of which tend to be duplicates. The file has been approved but in the future, please don't create topics regarding pending submissions. If there's a problem with your submission, rest assured, we'll contact you. If it sits in queue for a few days, the world won't come to a standstill -- don't worry.

  5. Name changes are only provided by one of two means: +Donator perk. PM'ing an Administrative member (Phun, TJKeeran, or myself) with logical reasoning as to why you'd like it changed. Please note that "I don't like it anymore" isn't a valid reason.
  6. Way back on March 1st, I announced the following via our very first thread. Unfortunately, due to some fairly dreadful miscommunication between Phun and I, the MyBB forums were mistakenly reopened a few weeks ago and the database privileges were never restored. This led to an awful lot of confusion and for that, I sincerely apologize. Once again, I am removing access to the MyBB forums and announcing that any and all support for MyBB is being dropped, indefinitely. Please do not create support topics for MyBB, or attempt to share content related to MyBB. If and when we choose to resume MyBB support, it will be announced in advance. For those of you with open MyBB support or request topics, please direct said topics to community.MyBB.com. Thank you.
  7. To clarify, the modification being requested by the OP is a custom design belonging to Djlatino. He is in no way obligated to assist with this request and as he has made it fairly clear he isn't interested in doing so, I feel the OP's question has been sufficiently answered. Thus, locked. 10. While I won't censor the topic, let me state for the record that WebFlake will not allow open support for pornographic or otherwise lascivious material, regardless if you're just trying to obtain advice on software platforms. Any direct support given must be done off-site and on your own time. I'll allow you to solicit assistance with the site, but all details or any other discussion must be held via PM, Skype, your own website, etc. We might be stereotyped as "pirates" here, but we at least try to maintain some measure of class. It might be wise to have a look-see at our Community Guidelines. Saviour, as your response is within the confines of our guidelines, I'll allow it to stay. As mentioned already, further discussion needs to be taken to another form of communication.

  12. Link to the page you're trying to view.
  13. It's not a "rule" that submissions must have a zero detection ratio, but rather an optimal figure. I've adjusted the above Q&A to clarify. Ultimately, approval of submissions (regardless of the ratio displayed in the analysis) is at the discretion of whichever member of the team is reviewing the file for approval. How we are choosing to handle this isn't necessarily as black and white as some may perceive it to be.
  14. It's not cap-related.
  15. First and foremost, why are you copy/pasting the download button links instead of the file URL on the site? It makes it difficult to navigate to the appropriate file. However, I did track those files down and both work just fine. Please ensure you're not utilizing any form of download accelerator.
  16. Correct, but false positives aren't really as prevalent as you think, much less easily ignored. Let me put this in perspective: If you download a file and your antivirus immediately pops and informs you the file is harmful, it probably is. If you believe you have a false positive and the file is actually safe, most other antivirus programs shouldn't make the same mistake. In other words, if this is a false positive, only a few antivirus programs should flag the file as dangerous, while most should say it's safe. This is why we recommend (and use) VirusTotal -- it lets us scan a file with 50+ antivirus programs so we can see what they all think of it. If most of the antivirus programs say there's a problem, the file is probably malicious. If only a few antivirus programs have a problem with the file, it may well be a false positive, but this doesn't guarantee the file is actually safe, it’s just a piece of evidence to consider. The most important thing you can do is evaluate the source of the download. If you've performed a Google search and downloaded content from a website you don't recognize (a fine reason to use WebFlake only), you probably shouldn't trust that site. If the file arrived via a peer-to-peer network or email, it's probably malware. On the other hand, you may have downloaded the file from a site you trust (e.g. IPS or xenForo) and may have seen a message on their website saying something like "Avast Antivirus currently says this file is malicious, but that's a false positive. We're working with the Avast team to fix it." Obviously, you can trust either company, so you can feel fairly good bypassing your antivirus malware alert and utilize the file. There's still no guarantee, of course. The company's website may have been compromised. It's a good sign if you see a false positive warning before downloading a file. On the other hand, if you download a file and see an error without seeing a warning first, that's a bad sign -- you may have stumbled onto a malicious download. Always be absolutely certain you're on the company's real website and not a fake website set up to trick you into downloading malware. When an antivirus flags a file, it will give you a specific name for the type of malware it is. Plug this name into a search engine like Google and you should find links to malware database websites put together by antivirus companies. They'll tell you exactly what the file does and why it's blocked. In some cases, files that have legitimate uses may be flagged as malware and blocked because they can be used for malicious purposes (i.e. VNC server software). Ultimately, there's no foolproof way to know for sure whether a file is actually a false positive. All we can do is gather evidence -- what other antivirus programs say, whether the file is from a trustworthy source, and exactly what type of malware the file is flagged as -- before making our best guess. If you're not too sure whether a file is actually a false positive, you shouldn't use it. Better safe than sorry. VirusTotal is our first, and best, layer of defense against potential malware, viruses, etc. Staff will always utilize their own personal software to perform additional scans, and our members are welcome to do so with content they download as well. I'm currently contemplating making use of a VirusTotal API and hooking that into our downloads system via HTTP POST requests, so that we won't need to direct our users to VirusTotal at all -- the scans will be performed locally. That's a discussion for another day though.
  17. We don't feel that there is any urgency to implement this policy for our supported forum software, but we are discussing just doing so anyway for the sake of having that extra layer of security.
  18. The only one who can tell you if this is a solid idea or not, is yourself. What can you do differently, that hasn't already been done before? What is it you believe will set you apart from the hundreds, if not thousands, of communities that already exist for this very purpose? To be quite frank, your targeted demographic isn't going to be virtuous, much less desirable. Last-Gen products are quickly going the way of the dodo thanks to spectacular deals from Microsoft and Sony. Modifying consoles [illegally] doesn't afford the preferred reward over risk it may have at one time. Don't waste your time putting together a community "just because". It's a disservice to both yourself and countless others attempting to achieve something worthwhile.
  19. I'll contact you directly.
  20. Welcome to WebFlake, officially. Just for the record, ForumCore (and now WebFlake) has always been owned by Phun. Para is a former administrator and longtime friend to Phun himself.
  21. As of today, all submissions for the following categories must have a valid and current link to VirusTotal.com: WordPress themes and plugins HTML templates Website scripts (PHP, Java, etc) GFX (smileys, ranks/badges, other imagery) Any submission that does not have a valid and current VirusTotal.com link will automatically be deleted. Should this happen, you are welcome to obtain the necessary link and resubmit your content. Never used VirusTotal.com before? Don't worry, it's simple. Go to VirusTotal.com Select your file and click the blue Scan It! button (note: file size is limited to 128MB on VT) Your file may be entered into queue, just wait for a few moments Once the scan finishes, ensure that no viruses have been detected, then copy/paste the URL of that page into the required field in the file submission form here on WebFlake Please remember, the scan must be current. The analysis also includes a timestamp, which Staff will be able to see when reviewing your submission. We will still download and scan your file with our own discretionary tools, but your link to VirusTotal is our primary layer of security to protect us before we approve the file for the community. Q: Why aren't we required to do this for other software, such as IPB, xenForo, vBulletin, and MyBB? A: These products are not known to be targeted in this CryptoPHP chaos. We still scan content for these platforms. Q: Why are we being required to do this again? A: Please see my announcement regarding CryptoPHP injections, Q: Do I need to edit my previous file submissions and add a VirusTotal link to comply with this new policy? A: No, but we would certainly appreciate it if you did. No requirement to do so, however. Q: You said VirusTotal has a file size limit. Are there any sites like VirusTotal with a bigger limit? A: Not to our knowledge, no. WebFlake employs it's own file size limit of 40MB anyway. Q: I see that the same file I am scanning on VirusTotal has already been scanned before. Can I use that analysis instead? A: Absolutely not. Ensure that when you submit your file, it is within minutes of the analysis timestamp. Otherwise, it will be deleted. Q: How do I know if my file, or the file I'm interested in, is clean? A: Detection ratio. Files that haven't been flagged as potentially malicious by the majority of the antivirus programs will have a low detection ratio (typically between 1-10 / 54). If the ratio numbers are green (for example: 0 / 54) the file is likely clean. If the numbers are red, then that means an overwhelming consensus is that the file is malicious in nature. Q: Can I see an example analysis? A: Follow the link below for an example analysis, using a copy of our official release of xenForo 1.4.3. https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/f03a29229645ac670c18beb44d59313ac382b88695e215427a19f055be285cf3/analysis/1420518912/
