  1. Given an unfortunate history of shitty resellers plaguing this community and many others, yes. If the company you're linking to is not an accredited name-brand company, then any mention of it is expressly prohibited. From our Community Guidelines:
  2. I've had to edit a pair of posts that contained links to third-party hosting providers. Not only do we not allow this, it's also considered advertising. Warnings / suspensions will be issued if it continues.

  5. That speaks more to the community's belief in our system than it does to your perceived oppression. Let's not derail the topic any further.
  6. Why not use the topic you generated the image from? Seems to have a wealth of information there. http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/228123-spoiler-tag/
  7. If you have to wonder "if it's worth it", then you clearly don't understand the definition of a donation, which is defined as an act of giving without expectation of anything in return. We offer perks and premium content as a 'thank you' to those willing to ensure WebFlake's continued upkeep but we're not obligated to, by any means. The very fact that we provide free support and free content should be sufficient enough to encourage anyone to donate to WebFlake. We don't require anyone to, nor should you expect us to prove that donating "is worth it". It's insulting.
  8. For free content that comes with free support, I think the download cap is quite sufficient.
  9. No. A $10 donation will get you two months of +Donator status.
  10. Try clearing your cookies and cache on the browser, or alternatively just use a different browser. Beyond that, there isn't much else we can do.
  11. Unfortunately, the only likely culprits outside of download accelerators are poor internet connections or high latency between your home network and the WebFlake server. The system is functioning fine and is not experiencing any hiccups. I recommend doing a speed test and perhaps pinging the WebFlake domain.
  12. Moved this to the appropriate forum. Are you trying to use any sort of download accelerator, either desktop-based or browser-based?

    Question Question.

Are you asking if you're allowed to share content that has a price elsewhere, for free? Of course you can.
  14. @LVAzelf, it's not so much that I'm getting defensive as it is annoyance. The things you've cited just don't happen with GoDaddy (certainly not for the "many" you're referring to) and if they do, I'd be willing to wager anything that they're a result of something on your end. I'm not calling you a liar or suggesting that your experiences didn't happen, just stating that it's my belief that your interpretation of those events are wildly different from the facts. The thing that perturbs me most is that if your experience was truly that awful, why not take a moment and request to speak to a supervisor? You're talking about a company that frequently sends goodies (for free) to people who share their positive experiences or people that offer a kind word or two. A company that, when confronted with testiomonials such as yours, will work diligently to resolve your issue and offer unprecedented discounts and adjustments to fix any wrongdoing. So again, I'm not doubting that you've had a bad experience, I'm just not buying that it was a result of GoDaddy. As for your hosting dilemma, your choices are really limited to premiere companies like GoDaddy or low-end hosting services that are likely to be cheaper but not offer the same level of quality. Since I haven't had experience with any of the latter form of hosting (haven't had any need to), I can't speak to that.
  15. I can believe the slow loading (entirely dependent on configuration and software) but the rest just looks like the same copy/pasted myths that have been propagandized for years now. I've been a customer for roughly a decade and have never experienced those sort of issues, much less heard of them being so prevalent. Downtime is extremely infrequent (their last cluster-based downtime was in 2012) and they're consistently rated best in customer support (40 minute hold times? lolwut?!). Over the years, I've seen an awful lot of complaints on various sites, including WebFlake and its previous iterations. One recurrent theme is that GoDaddy is "terrible" yet the common denominator between all of those complaints is that these poor experiences are a result of user error (i.e. errors in .htaccess, misuse of .ini files, overloading, etc). I'm not saying GoDaddy is perfect but I have used just about every service GoDaddy has to offer throughout my time with them and have never had a reason to complain. If I had to pick a fault, I'd say it's with their resource scaling. Beyond that however, they're a world-class company. What you're suggesting here is that a lowly, third-party offshore host would be better than GoDaddy and I'm not buying it. No one else should either. To each their own though. Best of luck.
  16. The cPanel platform isn't heavily managed like classic shared hosting was. I'm assuming your time with GoDaddy is quite dated. I currently host several sites of much larger capacity on one account, with level 2 resources. Costs me approximately $12/mo.
  17. Over $500 annually suggests you're paying $40+ a month, which is ludicrous. I'm not sure why you feel obligated to use a VPS for those numbers, either. By comparison, GoDaddy's managed VPS solutions are far cheaper. You could save much more just by opting for their cPanel package. I'm confident that their Deluxe package (mid-tier) plan would be more than sufficient for you. https://www.godaddy.com/hosting/web-hosting.aspx
  18. The website itself is offline. Given the circumstances, I'm locking this thread to avoid any further "missing images" complaints (which we have had plenty of). If at any point the site and the images become available again, contact me or another Staff member and request that this topic be reopened.
  19. No. Priority support is a thing of the past. We want to ensure that all of our users receive equal opportunity support.
