  11. ​If I'm reading this right, why are you keeping the files in a .ZIP and/or .TAR format? The server isn't going to read them to be the files it needs to read and knowing it needs to upgrade. You need to extract them with a FTP or the webhost's file manager and put all the files where your existing ones are and then tell it to replace them if it asks you.

  20. How about copy your database and make a test run on another subdomain to see if it works out well and what not? That would work so you don't have to do that on your live website and then something happen.
