  1. While I appreciate the sentiment, this is starting to feel a bit patronizing. Selling a monthly block of ad space is not going to have this catastrophic adverse effect on WebFlake that you're suggesting it will. WebFlake, despite being the largest community in this market, has never been on the same level of any of the sites you've listed, nor will it ever be. We've had exactly two hiccups: a closed PayPal account and a forfeit domain, both of which happened many years ago. That said, if you really feel the need to continue this discussion, you're welcome to send me a private message. There's no need for this off-topic hyperbole to continue in this thread.
  2. It would be at our discretion, yes. Our domain, our rules. Purchasing the space won't be an automated process. There's a lot of implied common sense that is left unsaid but that doesn't stop people from thinking it's a loophole. I don't know if you've noticed but WebFlake has always had a target on its back; that's the nature of this market. Did you think WebFlake chugs along entirely devoid of operating costs? Also, you're comparing Walmart to a local farmer's market. We're not Megaupload or KAT. WebFlake isn't distributing music, movies, TV content, etc. If IPS wanted this site gone, we'd have been shut down long ago.
  3. It's not the thought of an animated GIF that we're concerned with, it's the probable headache of having to explain time and again why we accepted one animation but not the other. Frankly, we don't want bright neon lettering that is going to induce a seizure because of flickering/strobing imagery. Idea is that it would be a static image, yes. This may change though. We're not certain on an amount. We would like to get an idea for the general consensus. We don't want to overcharge but we certainly don't want to shortchange ourselves either. Statistics likely won't be a possibility, no. We're reviewing options for analytics but for the time being, it will likely be a simplistic ad space.
  4. We're currently having an internal discussion about selling a single block of ad space on the site and would like some feedback. Obviously, we would be enforcing a handful of rules with an ad: cannot be a link to NSFW content. cannot be a link to a competing website. cannot be a link to a website involving hacking or anything malicious in general. cannot be an animated GIF or have an obnoxious design. This ad would likely be placed on the sidebar, just below the Discord block. Would likely be a monthly rotation on a first come, first serve basis unless someone is willing to outbid for the space. There are a variety of models at our disposal, ranging from auction to tiered brackets based on the size of the site you're advertising. We haven't yet decided on a fair value. WebFlake averages somewhere around 5k or more visits per day, but that number fluctuates throughout the year. We'd like your feedback on what you would be willing to pay on a monthly basis. Feel free to post questions, comments, or additional feedback.
  5. We don't do that here, for legal and security reasons.
  6. Edit the specific forum and select the Posting Settings tab. Under Tags (midway down the page), you will see the option Can use tags? and an input field for Defined tags. Adjust these settings to your taste. If you toggle Use default, that forum will use the default tags you have defined in System > Settings > Posting > Tags.
  7. Simple: you "corrupt" the previous poster's wish and then make your own. For example: Be as silly as you like but please keep it SFW. I'll start with something simple: I wish for a million dollars!
  8. Please congratulate @Setup on his promotion to Support Team! Over the last few weeks, Setup has shown a strong desire to assist members of this community and has done so quite effectively. This determination and generosity makes him a perfect fit for our Support Team. Setup will be primarily assisting the community with IPS Community Suite and general programming. As always, we'll be continuing to bolster our team with new talent and capable team members. Once again, congratulations!
  9. DISCORD: #announcements should now be visible for all users again. View full release

  13. Videos should be able to be uploaded as you would any other content but Gallery is ill-suited for video sharing -- it doesn't even offer transcoding. Something like VideoBox would be a better option.
  14. We won't be installing any new apps/plugins to the existing software until we've upgraded the site to the 4.2.x edition of IPS.
  15. Added a new HR element to the editor. Updated XenForo 2.0 downloads category to appropriately require a VirusTotal link. View full release
  16. Are you using node.js as a framework? Looks a bit too similar to NodeBB.
  17. Apologies for the delay, it's been a busy last few weeks. Forum categories for IPS 4.2 are now available.
  18. We certainly intend to but we don't yet have an ETA for that. We'll post an announcement well in advance of when we anticipate upgrading.
  19. Due to how absolutely horrid their designs are, we are no longer accepting templates designed by "TPPThemes". Quality of work is well below acceptable standards for 2017 and we simply do not want their designs festering in our database.

    Question 4 downloads

From our FAQ: 1. What is this "You have exceeded the maximum amount of downloads allotted to you by the administrator for the day" error? WebFlake currently enforces a daily download cap, limiting various groups to a varying number of downloads per day. Newbies, Members, and Advanced Members are capped at 4, 5, and 6, respectively. When donating at least $10 USD, you'll gain access to our Frost tier which unlocks a cap of 12 per day. For $25 USD or more, you'll gain access to our Snow tier and 20 downloads per day. Finally, for $50 USD or more, you'll gain access to our +Blizzard tier, unlocking 50 downloads per day. The only other usergroups not subject to this cap (aside from Staff) are Uploaders and Support Team.
  21. As your topic appears to be a support topic for IP.Board, we have moved it to the appropriate forum.
  22. Since you're installing XenForo fresh, you'll want the first link as it's the complete installation package. The "upgrade" (your second link) contains just the necessary files to upgrade an existing installation.
  23. That's tough. There are literally thousands of these sort of sites and unless you can create something that truly sets you apart from the rest, you're not going to have much luck. Think of it like a lemonade stand. You can create a custom sign, position your stand in the most convenient location, and offer bargain prices, but unless your lemonade recipe is unique, you're not going to get many customers. Anyone can make lemonade, it's a matter of how tasty or desirable it is.
  24. If you haven't been following our recent releases or keep tabs of mentions on Discord, we've just overhauled permissions on our Discord server. Going forward, when joining the WebFlake Discord server, you will automatically have read access to the #welcome channel but nothing more. In order to gain access to the rest of the server, you'll need to link your Discord account to your WebFlake account by going to your Account Settings and selecting Discord from the menu, or you can Click Here. There is absolutely no risk in linking your Discord account to WebFlake. By linking your account, you're not only helping us clean up our channels from potential spam but you'll gain access to our #support channel for quick (although limited) support and a plethora of fun features and perks on our Discord server (such as getting a unique role as a Donator). Once your account is linked, you'll be able to use your Discord name as an SSO (Single Sign-On). Linking your account will not display your Discord username on your site profile, you'll still need to do that yourself via Edit Profile. On a final note, if you have an existing WebFlake account, do not sign in with Discord before linking your Discord account to the site. Since we employ the use of Duplicate Members Logger, sometimes the system will trigger a false-positive as attempting to sign in with Discord will begin a new registration process. Once you link your Discord account to your WebFlake account, you can use SSO without issue.
  25. Fixed a legacy bug that caused topic titles to be passed as raw data into post content. Reverted donator file caps back to their original values. These caps were increased when the site was presumed to be closing and it was an oversight that they were never reverted back. Apologies for any confusion. Handful of trophies and medals have been implemented, mostly for post count. More will be added over the next week. View full release
