You can upgrade directly to 4.2.7.

This is a default feature of IPS 4.2 and should already be enabled however, you should check the setting value in the ACP. Members > Member Settings > Profiles > Profile Settings > Generate profile photos from first letter of the member's display name.

Within each group's settings, go to the Social tab and make sure Can upload a cover photo? is toggled off.

Depending upon where you're sourcing the content, there are a few ways content authors have to connect you to any files you may release on WebFlake. If you're downloading directly from the content author's own website, they can generate a unique hash that is appended to the file name to identify the downloader. If you're downloading from the IPS Marketplace, you're not likely to encounter the above but content authors can still determine who you are by: comparing usernames comparing when the file was downloaded to the time it was submitted here (process of elimination) These are just examples and not an all-inclusive list. Bottom line is, if you don't feel comfortable releasing a file, you can either send it to a Staff member to do so on your behalf or simply choose not to release it at all. You're under no obligation to share content with WebFlake but we certainly appreciate it when our users do!

Earlier this evening, we were in the process of ending the giveaway early as entries had tapered off. While drawing our two winners, we tripped some sort of spam filter on Gleam and have been requested to provide proof that these account upgrades are legitimate -- essentially, they want to verify the validity of this giveaway. As a result, our giveaway with Gleam is currently suspended. I've already reached out to Gleam with the requested information and hope to hear from them soon but I'm not sure how soon I'll receive a response with Christmas just three days away. Good news is, we've already drawn our two winners and managed to collect a bit of data from the submissions. Unfortunately, we don't have access to the text entry data for 'what one feature we should add' and 'Christmas memories'. It's rather disheartening to have this happen at such an inopportune time as we had planned to share some of the great stories and ideas we had received. What we do have is clear winners in software additions and the features listed in our Feature Plan that users are most excited about. We also found that our Christmas theme, while simple in design, was a resounding success. Check the bottom of this thread for more details on this data. As for the giveaway, we will be reaching out to our two winners on Twitter in the next few minutes. Winners will need to DM us by 11:59pm EST today (12/22) with their forum username to claim their free upgrade. Once the winners claim their upgrade, we'll announce them here on the site as well. In the event the issue with Gleam is resolved before the end of the giveaway, we'll just draw two more names from there as well. Data Results Our Christmas theme was declared a big hit with the community, with 88%(!) of the entries grading the theme as a 5 (highest possible rating). vBulletin and MyBB were the two most requested software, with only "none of the above" coming close. Interestingly enough, all but one entrant that voted for vBulletin voted for MyBB as well. Burning Board had a mere 12 votes and SMF predictably had the lowest total. As a result of this vote, we're going to be discussing the reintroduction of vBulletin and MyBB content and will explore our options for providing official support. Lastly, the one feature the entrants looked forward to the most is a custom theme for the site, with priority support and a dedicated tutorials area being a close second. Again, we hope to be able to provide a full recount of all data obtained from this giveaway once everything is cleared up with Gleam. Thank you all again for being the best damn community! Awfully strange. Only settings that need defined are the group settings and forum-specific settings. Did you happen to change anything in your AT&P settings?

Good to hear! Doing quite well myself. Glad to see a familiar face again! As for the topic itself, I admittedly just glanced at the OP and missed that you're aware you need forum-specific settings but I did notice that you don't have the prefixes defined. Here's ours, for example:

Prefixes are also a forum-specific setting. Make sure they're enabled for each forum and have the desired prefixes listed as well. Off-topic: long time no see, how the heck are ya?

Snow donation tier has been renamed to Frost, while Frost has been renamed to Snow. Merged the individual applications and plugins IPS sub-categories together in a new category: Applications and Plugins. Remember: TAR files are applications and XML files are most often plugins. Renamed the IPS sub-category, Language Packs, to Translations. Renamed the IPS sub-category, Miscellaneous XML, to IPS Extras. Changed the Software profile field yet again, this time to IPS4 (from IPS Community Suite) and Legacy IPB (from Legacy IP.Board), as a result of it looking awful in the author pane. This will be noted in our upcoming release notes but I wanted to take a moment and give a heads up to everyone now about this aesthetic change. Frost has been renamed to Snow and Snow has been renamed to Frost. It's been a pet peeve of mine since we started using donation tiers. Frost comes before snow; common sense. Nothing has changed but the names, so don't panic and think you've been downgraded or get excited over a possible mistaken upgrade. I'll be sending out a round of emails to all donators to ensure everyone is aware.

I don't believe IPS offers any official support for it and from the little information I was able to find, it's not very intuitive and conflicts with IPS.

Any reason why you're still using 4.1 and not 4.2? Are you absolutely certain that the apps/plugins you're trying to use are for 4.1? Have you verified that your host can handle the workload of an IPS installation?
