I don't understand why OP wants to host from home - paranoia and babying issues arise.
It's so much easier to get a company to host it, they have backup generators and their business is to make sure your server doesn't go offline, whearas a homerun server is suspecible to DoS attacks (being only one IP), power shortage, HUGE power bills, and internet loss and bandwidth (possibly, just speculating here) issues.
A dedi is a dedi.
I've been privlaged enough to see Manchester airport's new air traffic control tower - my dad helped the airport with the achecture.
No photos, forgot, but the server room was (almost) bigger than a small house.
