  1. Did you set uportal/unreal portal as your homepage in your initdata.php in your FTP? If so, you need to open that back up and rename this: define( 'IPS_DEFAULT_PUBLIC_APP', 'uportal' ); to this.. define( 'IPS_DEFAULT_PUBLIC_APP', 'forums' ); The question(s) in this support topic have been answered and the owner has been able to solve the problem. 3. There are two nulled releases here on WebFlake -- 3.4.1, and 3.4.2. I've used both, but the DGT 3.4.2 release will require an edit to remove the license key notification at the top (evidently they forgot about it). There's a tutorial available on the site for removing it.
  4. Every software package has something to that effect -- callbacks, packet sniffers, etc etc etc. But the reality of it is, xenForo is highly unlikely to interest themselves in you. After their yearlong legal dispute with Internet Brands (owners of the vBulletin software), the xF team is going to be focusing their energy on recovering losses, and moving forward (speculation, but the probable outcome). Interestingly enough though (and not to inflict paranoia), but xenForo would actually be most dangerous at this point in time; primarily because they're in a bad way, and any nulled content could be seen as blasphemy and xenForo could lash out at owners using nulled content. They won't be filing lawsuits though, as doing so would require funds they assuredly don't have. As a smaller site just starting out, it's highly unlikely that you have anything to fear. By the time your community garners the interest and member count to be a blip on xenForo's radar, you'll likely already have the funds available to purchase a license.
  5. Using retail copies of unlicensed software is a perpetual issue for any software (IPB, vBulletin, xenForo, etc). In other words, the same risks apply across all of them. The severity of getting "caught" may vary, which typically depends on the "power" of the company (IPS certainly has more resources than xenForo, as xF was drained by a recent lawsuit), as well as the content you offer. Someone who simply wants a gaming community isn't likely to be pursued or harassed by the proprietor, whereas someone who runs a site similar to WebFlake, that offers "pirated" content, will likely become a prime target for DMCA notices and/or potential lawsuits. It's simple really.. weigh the risk versus the reward. You'll find your answer. On a side note, a quick search of the site will turn up countless posts/topics dedicated to this very discussion. If this answer doesn't suffice, then I genuinely suggest you do some research here on WebFlake.
  6. I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. In some instances, I'd tend to agree with you. However, I've found creative use for the Blogging system on one of my communities -- players from one of my gaming servers utilize it to chronicle exploration across various maps, or even offer in-depth user guides for a variety of in-game aspects. Communities that offer blogs that will never be used, or communities that have users who update their blogs like a Facebook status, are definitely fail..but some of us, are able to cleverly employ this system and succeed.

    Web Hosting

As I posted in another thread... (there have been several topics on this).. I don't have much personal experience in the way of offshore hosting or any of the goofy resellers that have been cropping up lately, but I can say I've been a longtime customer of GoDaddy without any issues. I have seven different domains, all using a variety of nulled content, and even rent a dedicated server from them that runs emulation software. Most of the agents can be inquisitive, but it's more harmless curiosity than anything. You can purchase their Economy shared hosting package, for $5.99/mo.. which includes: [*]24/7 tech support [*]99.99% uptime [*]Unlimited bandwidth [*]100 GB space [*]10 MySQL databases [*]100 free email addresses [*]$50 credit for Bing/Facebook Ads (each) [*]One-click application installation (WordPress, Joomla, phpBB, SMF, MyBB, MediaWiki, etc) Right now.. you can take their promo offer which is $2.99/mo.. and everything I listed above, simply isn't matched by offshore hosts or any of the resellers posting in this thread. There is always a risk involved with onshore hosting, but GoDaddy receives a lot of flak for small business complications from years ago.. They take care of their customers, offer quality support/hardware for unbelievably affordable prices, and turn a blind eye when needed. Call me a "fanboi", but I have yet to be disappointed by their service. If you spend cheap, expect cheap.

  10. So are movies, but it doesn't negate the fact that the injuries are real -- or that a lot of the maneuvers are dangerous and/or painful.
  11. This is your second post in the last few minutes regarding topics previously discussed. Next time, I'll issue a warning. A search would have turned up several threads where Administration has informed the community that if you are in need of a specific skin/app/hook/etc from the ForumCore database, that they can be contacted and will gladly retrieve the file from a backup database.

  13. Care to offer any images? This is heavily customized from standard tutorials for this very topic.. which may leave users confused.
  14. It's highly unlikely that a "fake" license would work.. not without risk of legal repercussions. You have two options for obtaining content from the IPS Marketplace: [*]Purchase an IPS License [*]or.. download the content from WebFlake You could always download it from other file sharing sites, but you won't have the same level of quality or guaranteed security.
  15. ... You need to have an IPS License (starting at $170 USD).

  19. It's right on their main page (yellow bar directly beneath the navigation panel). Here's a direct link to their domain purchase page: http://www.godaddy.com/domains/search.aspx?isc=gofa2001ad&ci=78118
  20. Are you kidding me? GoDaddy's service itself has been ranked #1 across the nation for years.. with good reason. For offshore customers, I'd imagine the latency isn't that great. Have a look around at en passe comments regarding offshore hosts: downtime, DDOS issues, etc. In four years I've never experienced downtime, and I've never endured a DDOS for more than 30 minutes (contacting support had it resolved in mere minutes). Besides, GoDaddy's web hosting plans are far cheaper than any other provider (bandwidth, space, etc). Customers never pay $15 outright for new domains. Discounts are applied automatically for new domains. Yes, the renewal is $15/yr (only $4 more than NameCheap), but when you consider the quality service and extras that come with using GoDaddy, that $4 difference becomes extremely trivial. As with any change customers aren't happy with, there will always be a ton of false propaganda on the web. Remember McDonald's allegedly selling "kangaroo meat"? GoDaddy's domain prices increased by a couple of dollars due to VeriSign increasing their prices. People naively blame their cable providers for the outrageous channel pricing, when the reality is, it's the media companies who own the channels that raise the prices and back the cable providers into a corner -- just as VeriSign has done to GoDaddy. In any event, people are free to choose from whomever. I'm here to say that as a longtime customer of GoDaddy (affiliate/partner as well), I've never had an issue. I could argue until I'm blue in the face, or people can just go out and form their own objective opinion. But I won't sit by and watch someone trash GoDaddy's reputation with convoluted stories. Side Note: GoDaddy now has $0.99 .com's available.

  22. Unfortunately, such things could be caused by any number of issues: [*]Browser cache (try SHIFT + F5) [*]Forum cache (try ACP > System > Cache Management > Recache All) [*]Poor hosting (might want to contact your hosting provider) [*]Latency issues (verify that your internet connection is stable)

There are other ways to be a contributor aside from uploading content, donating, or posting in off-topic threads all day. Answer support threads, do research for tutorials, or even provide some graphics work (forum icons, banners, etc). It's not required that you give back to the community, but it'd certainly never hurt. WebFlake offers free support, quality content, and the best file sharing community out there.
  24. Actually, various packages/discounts offer a free SSL certificate. Typically, first-time customers can nab a freebie as well.
