  2. How do you miss this? Your topic has been moved to the appropriate forum. Also, you should review the following thread: https://webflake.sx/topic/21922-webflake-updates-legacy-software
  3. That is the idea for these new Moderators. They would essentially be taking on the role of our old Support Team but with additional privileges. I've thought about the idea of just foregoing this new moderating group and reviving the Support Team but the old format allowed for too much leniency in time commitments and didn't offer enough in the way of access to allow them to be effective beyond just answering support topics. When I first joined the administration team, many of our former "specialists" with various software had already left, so we simplified the Staff team and moved forward. While our team over the years has included some pillars of this community and people I'm proud to have become friends with, not everyone has been able to bring a specialty to the team beyond moderation and trustworthiness. Unfortunately, that has left WebFlake at an odd disposition with content support thus we've decided to create a new group that will allow us to retain valuable "global" moderators but add folks who can really contribute to our support areas.
  4. We're going to be enforcing stricter upload guidelines with regards to description, imagery, and versioning. This is to ensure all necessary information is available before a user downloads a file. When a file is submitted to our database, it is downloaded, scanned, re-scanned through VirusTotal, and often times the contents are searched for potential self-links or other malicious code. We're not perfect, mistakes will be made, but I wholly intend to ensure that we're doing our very best. Our categories are as they are because we want exclusivity, not a broad range of content that we can't possibly keep up with. WebFlake's foundation is and always will be our support for webmasters. Certain content just doesn't have a place here. What do you have in mind? It goes without saying there will always be room for improvement.
  5. Our next focus will consist of two parts: finding a credible source for content (particularly someone with a license) and expanding our Staff team. We've already started on the latter part, having opened our applications page. We haven't yet approved anyone but we're currently reviewing the applications that have been submitted. Since we are still discussing the possible return to having forum-specific moderators, currently dubbed "sectional moderators" (not a name I much care for either), there will be a slight delay with approving these applications. Another focal point will be to source new content, whether that be via our Uploader program or via users with licenses (anonymity permitted if desired). If you happen to own a license for IPS or xenForo and would like to contribute, feel free to reach out to me directly. We would also like some feedback on the "Sectional Moderator" name: do you like it or do you have a better name for us?
  6. Killshandra linked to your answer. Make an effort.

    Question Name Change

From our FAQ: 24. How can I change my display name? Members are not permitted to change their display name by default. However, you have two options: Donate at least $10 and you'll unlock the Snow tier, granting you the ability to alter your display name. Contact Phun or Davlin via private message and request a display name adjustment. Please note that if you choose this option, you must provide a valid reason. Simply not liking your name, for example, is not a valid reason.
  9. We'll begin reviewing applications tomorrow afternoon. It's been a long day (nearly 5am here) and I've got to get some shuteye. Thanks!
  10. I'm pleased to announce that we're once again accepting applications for the WebFlake Staff Team. Before applying for a role with our Staff team, please review the basic information for what is expected of each role and the necessary criteria you must meet in order to apply. You can find this information on the new Application Prerequisites page. This reminder — and a link to the prerequisites page — is displayed at the top of our application forms. To apply, head over to WebFlake.sx/Apply (also located at About Us > Apply), select a role you'd like to apply for, and complete the application to the best of your ability. Remember: if you submit an application without meeting the necessary requirements, your application will be rejected and you may be barred from future application submissions. If we find any of your application to be inaccurate or misleading, your application will be rejected and your account could face penalties. A few other notes: Expert is not an available role at this time. We're currently evaluating the future of the group. Expert apps available! The application page and the current format is rather primitive and is likely to be changed in the near future. You are unable to view another user's submission. You should be able to review yours after submitting it. Staff will leave feedback or ask additional questions of you via the comment section below your application. You will be able to see a tag denoting the current status of your application and they are as follows: Pending: your application has not yet been reviewed. Under Review: we are currently reviewing your application. Rejected: your application has been rejected and you should receive feedback on why within a few hours. Accepted: your application has been accepted and you'll be receiving a message on the site (or Discord) shortly thereafter. Please be patient after submitting an application. We do not have a predefined time frame for a response. It could be a few hours or a few days. We will review your application, we promise. Do not post topics or send PMs inquiring into the status of your application or it will be rejected. If you have any questions or feedback regarding this new application page and/or the process, feel free to respond below.
  11. WebFlake is a progressive, forward-thinking community. In the spirit of that, it's time to start moving on from older software. Maintaining categories and forums for older software just creates bloat on this website and consumes precious resources better used on newer software. Furthermore, outdated and unsupported software poses a significant security risk to active communities and their hosting environment. Starting today, WebFlake will be discontinuing its official support of IP.Board 3.4 and all related content. We understand that this may not be a popular decision but with IPS 4.2 right around the corner, we need to focus our attention on current releases. We will also be discontinuing support for xenForo 1.4 and will do the same for xenForo 1.5 once xenForo 2.0 is available as a stable release. As a courtesy to our legacy users, we've opened a temporary "legacy" category for those users to seek peer-to-peer support from other members within the community. In due time, this category (and IPB 3.4) will be removed entirely. In the meantime, if you need assistance with IP.Board 3.4, would like a file for it, or just want to discuss it in general, it belongs in IPB 3.4 Legacy Discussion. All IPB 3.4 files have been merged into one file category as well (most recent release pinned to the top). We will no longer be accepting 3.4 content submissions. When posting in the legacy area, for the sake of everyone's sanity, you will be required to tag your post according to the topic purpose: support, file request, tutorial, or discussion. Staff will continue to monitor discussions there to ensure our community guidelines are being followed but Staff is not obligated to lend assistance with any of the topics. Our IPS Community Suite category for tutorials, support, and requests is reserved solely for 4.x installations. If you post a 3.4 related topic there, it will be removed. MyBB and vBulletin content will not be returning to WebFlake. Sorry, folks. MyBB is open-source and we simply cannot expect to compete with MyBB's official support forums. It's pointless. vBulletin has had five third-point updates in almost as many years and is largely a dead community. Should vBulletin experience a sudden revival, we will consider supporting it again. Over the next few days, we will begin expanding our categories in preparation for IPS 4.2 and xenForo 2.0, as well as creating new ThemeForest and CodeCanyon specific categories. We're also discussing the possible inclusion of WoltLab Suite software. We have several exciting new updates headed your way. We'll keep you posted!
  12. In an effort to continue expanding our community with recent releases of currently supported software and the introduction of new software, we are going to start discontinuing support for older software that is no longer updated by its developers. There are simply too many security risks involved with using outdated software, specifically PHP and MySQL. Using legacy software is strongly discouraged and doing so could pose a significant threat to your community and/or hosting environment. As a courtesy to our legacy users, we will be providing this area for those users to seek peer-to-peer support from other members within the community. If you need assistance with your legacy software, would like a file for it, or just want to discuss it in general, it belongs here (in the appropriate software sub-forum). You will be required to tag your post according to the topic purpose: support, file request, tutorial, or discussion. Staff will continue to monitor discussions here to ensure our community guidelines are being followed but Staff is not obligated to lend assistance with any of the topics in these legacy forums. We do not have any specific moderators or support team members assigned to this area. We will continue accepting new content as it is submitted to our Legacy Software category.
  13. It's just a configured Topic Feed block. Go to your index, open the block manager, drag the Topic Feed widget (located under Forums) onto your sidebar, and configure it to display Featured topics only.
  14. Given that 3.4 was released in 2012, naturally it would have a significantly larger library of apps, plugins, and styles. Xbox 360 was released in 2005 and has the largest library of any console but the Xbox One is still vastly superior. IPS 4.x already contains a large portion of the 3.4.x library as default features. Much like Microsoft, at some point, we have to move on. I'm sure there is still a significant number of people still using Win7 but that didn't prevent Microsoft from designating Win7 as legacy software, dropping support for it, and moving on. IPB 3.x only supports up to PHP 5.4 and as hosting environments upgrade to PHP 7, older versions of PHP will be susceptible to security risks (much like IPB 3.x itself already is). We can't and won't force WebFlake users to upgrade to IPS 4.1 but we can't be held down by users too afraid to upgrade -- it's been two years! I'm not suggesting we forget about our 3.x users entirely but I feel our resources would be better served being focused on current software. I wouldn't say that we're "expanding" by adding MyBB and vBulletin as it's unlikely that we'll ever fully support either software (the former is free and the latter is dead). There aren't that many sources for either package out there so we thought it'd be a nice touch to at least provide some content even if we don't intend to open support / request boards for it.
  15. I've been checking back on the results from time to time and I'm seeing some people answer "no" to dropping support for IPB 3.4.x and would like to ask that if you feel that way, mind sharing why you think we shouldn't? If it's about the content, then remember that I said the category for 3.4.x would remain but for support, I'm curious as to why some feel we should continue supporting an outdated version that won't be receiving future updates.
  16. Would like to get some input from the community on some potential upcoming changes. Cast your votes and post your thoughts. Thanks! See below for more information before casting your votes. Should WebFlake drop support for IPB 3.4.x? We will not be removing 3.4.x content but we are considering removing official support for it as 3.4.x is two years old and a security risk. We would be removing the 3.x tags from the Support and Requests area and removing the category link to the downloads area. Remember, the downloads themselves will still be available. Should WebFlake re-add vBulletin and MyBB content? In March 2014, we dropped support for MyBB and disabled its downloads category as interest had waned and MyBB is open-source software anyway. vBulletin was dropped (downloads disabled as well) in February 2015 for the same reasons. We've seen requests increase over the last few years, including a few suggestions, to bring back both vBulletin and MyBB so we're now officially considering it. Our options are to restore access to the files only, add limited support for both packages in conjunction with the files, or not bother at all. To be clear, if we add limited support we will be adding a single forum for MyBB and a single forum for vBulletin, meaning support, requests, and discussion will be in one section and support will be purely peer-to-peer. We do not have any interest in fully supporting either forum software at this time. It's worth mentioning that we have a number of other ideas in the pipeline that we will get to in the coming days.

  18. Assuming your UserBar is part of the same container as your forum index, you could just add margin-top: X to that container in your theme's CSS. Without a link though, can't say for certain.

  21. As in, creating a new topic in our Marketplace detailing what you'd like done and how much you'd be willing to pay to have it done. Alternatively, you could post a request for this in IP.Board requests but the reality is, creating a hook into a database isn't likely to be something anyone is going to do for free. Should you opt to hire a freelancer in the Marketplace, I recommend reading over our Marketplace Guidelines before doing so.
  22. Added this nifty new Release Notes section. Reactivated PM access for all members. Added a new editor message. View full release
  23. Updated to IP.Board 4.0.6.1 (yay!) Follow member options added. You can now select which content you'll be alerted to when following another member. Social links to our official Facebook and Twitter can now be found at the bottom of the site. Google+ integration added. Real names are not required. Online indicator added to forum threads. Stop Forum Spam implemented. PM notice displays when composing a private message. Shoutbox has been temporarily replaced by Chatbox until we acquire a stable release of Shoutbox. Guests, Inactive Members and Members do not have access. You'll need to be an Advanced Member or higher (50 posts minimum) for access. This is temporary until we switch to Shoutbox. Auto Welcome feature updated to reflect changes to the site. IP.Calendar and IP.Blog have been implemented for future community involvement. Inactive Members no longer have access to viewing the Downloads database. Support for legacy xenForo products, 1.2.x and lower, has been dropped. xenForo, IP.Board and WordPress Support forums have been converted to the IPS4 Q&A style.. read more View full release
  24. Welcome @Jrock, @Saviour, and @TJKeeran back to the team!
  25. Phun and I have been discussing who we'd like to re-add to the team and you should see some familiar names returning over the next few days. We are reaching out to and talking with each of those names individually, so we can only add them as rapidly as their individual schedules permit. Also, we expect to add additional people to our team, including Junior Moderators and Uploaders. Would the community like to see the return of our Support Team? It seems that group has been forgotten over the years and could perhaps reinvigorate our support areas by offering some sort of official recognition for those committed to it. I'll also be taking suggestions for improvements to the site in a new thread sometime this week. In the meantime, feel free to use our Suggestions Tracker if you're not interested in waiting for the open thread.
