    No, IPS isn't open sourced. Hence why they sell a license for $200. However, you can download a copy of the latest version in our Downloads section <3 Discourse is a decent open source forum software, however you can't use it to compare with IPS. Although Webflake doesn't offer support for it anymore, myBB is a great alternative to IPS and have an entire community dedicated to support. And myBB is open source too.

    This is mostly personal preference. Whether you like Windows or a linux-based system is up to you. Windows 10 from me because I like to play games a lot. However, if you're looking for an OS for photoshop, video editing, film, photography, or office work, a linux OS would be better.
