Search feature doesn't include or notice content in extra fields?

I am running a music related site and within my downloads I have extra fields such as Genre, Filetype, BPM, Key, etc. The search feature will not pull results from any of the fields. Like if I search "disco" and have a file with the extra field genre containing Disco, it will just display 0 results. Is there any way to change this? Or is this just native programming behavior I won't be able to avoid?

Unfortunately, no application that is using the ExtraFields model can be searched. Was requested 5+ years ago, but discarded due to performance problems.

IPS supports Elasticsearch as Search Engine, could be possible with that, but I don't want to promise you anything.
