I recommend starting with Ubuntu, since it is one of the most popular ones. If you've never encounctered a Linux environment, Ubuntu is definitely worth to be your first pick since there are more than enough information on various things. You can also pick a desktop environment and customize it further. Other than that, I would also suggest Debian.
