  1. I am running a music related site and within my downloads I have extra fields such as Genre, Filetype, BPM, Key, etc. The search feature will not pull results from any of the fields. Like if I search "disco" and have a file with the extra field genre containing Disco, it will just display 0 results. Is there any way to change this? Or is this just native programming behavior I won't be able to avoid?
  2. Answering my own question. My best workaround was to edit the HTML/CSS in the theme section. Templates > Downloads > View > downloadButton. Added a target='_blank' to the a link and changing the button text to ask users to right click save as to download directly. Otherwise google serves and plays the file in browser in a new window.
  3. I am using external file URLs from my google drive instead of hosting files on my server directly. It works just fine but when the download button is clicked it opens the file directly in the current tab. Is there anything I can tweak to make the download button open the file in a new tab instead or force the download? EDIT: example of my site/download situation here - https://mixnmashmusic.com/files/file/2-victoria-monet-experience-feat-khalid-sg-lewis-diy-filtered-instrumental-by-mix-n-mash/
  4. Currently: "Froot" and "Immortal" by Marina and the Diamonds. Mostly this week: Alanis Morissette - some of my favorite tracks from her "Jagged Little Pill" and "Flavors of Entanglement" albums.
  5. All of these places sound great and nice to travel to (or make future plans to travel to)! Makes me wish I had the ability to travel more! haha
  6. While I enjoy the thought of that idea, the forum is actually still being setup and finalized. I just recently set it up a few days ago and its a fresh, new site without any following whatsoever. So sadly I cannot make a poll but perhaps when people become active that can be an idea for down the road! Kudos to you for the idea!
  7. Lol while that is true it would also be really difficult for me to do this idea, too. I like many artists and it would be difficult trying to nail things down to specific songs or albums as rankings. Plus I have a feeling that users (who don't complain) won't grasp the idea of the hierarchies that easily. My next idea would be music terms like speeds or perhaps terms for volume levels. And if all else fails and my creativity burns out, I may just settle on generalized member ranks but word them a little better than the generic ones that come with IP.Board
  8. My only beef with that idea is the fact that the music site is not nailed down to one artist. If you have been around the music communities that exist online you know hardcore fans exist and fanwars start easily. I can already hear it now if I used the album or singles as member ranks "Why is Gaga the top rank possible, she isnt even the best", "Why is P!nk below Britney Spears, everyone knows britney is better. F*** p!nk" "Omg why would you even use Madonna, she is such an old hag" etc etc. I can just see it making people upset for no reason because they feel offense that an artist they like wasnt the rank they thought.
  9. Wow. This looks simply awesome! I love purple, so that's a plus for me But the layout is awesome. Clean and sleek, simple yet looks beautiful! Keep up the good work!
  10. Here is mine. I don't know if you guys will get the hint, but I like music.. >_>
  11. Welcome Mold! Good to see someone eager to join and help! The joke may have been a little corny, Phun, but I still chuckled
  12. I am currently in the works of a site using IP.Board centered around building a community for remixers and mash-up artists and music (discussion) in general. I dont want to use the generic "Newbie" "Member" etc ranks and am in need of some guidance or advice on something crafty or neat I could name them, possibly something to do with music itself but doesn't need to be. Thank you for anyone who can share some ideas and get the creative juices flowing
  13. For me, all of my travelling has been done inside of the United States - a) because it's my home, b) because I have never had enough money to travel more abroad. In my personal experience some of the best places I have visited include: San Antonio, Texas While it is horribly hot and I'm not used to the type of heat they have, visiting was pretty awesome. It had the River Walk which was lovely to walk around both during the day but especially at night because it was a bit cooler. The shops were pretty neat (albeit expensive) and it was the first time I had eating/visited a Hard Rock Cafe in my life, which added to the experience. I also visited the 6 flags there as well and while I originally feared many of the coasters at first, I ended up riding all of them and thoroughly enjoying myself. I also got to visit some outskirt parts of Texas (some of which I can't remember the names to) which had kind of "old western" type feels to them. Shops and buildings still looked old and not-so-modern and the people were genuine and provided good service. Overall it was a nice visit for the short time I was there. Orlando, Florida My homestate is Florida but to be honest, I don't / didn't visit a lot of different parts of it (I especially don't now since I no longer live there lol). Mainly due to financial reasons. But for my senior trip we went to the Universal Orlanda / Islands of Adventure theme park. This was by far one of my greatest experiences because I overcame a lot of fears here. Before this time in my life the worst rides I had ever been on was just regular, non-upside-down rollercoasters. Nothing that went up too high, or dropped you too far, or went upside down or did anything crazy. The whole ride there my friends were telling me I had to ride their ride first because it would get me used to the experience and told me it wouldn't go upside down or anything. Little did I know I was being tricked into riding a thing called Doctor Doom which is one of those "sit down with a bunch of people in a circle ride and they launch you way the hell up in the air and then you plummet down and then launches you again and plummet down with less momentum until you stop" type rides. Needless to say with my fear of heights and fear of thrill rides, I freaked out the whole way in line, while being seated and during the ride. It was devastating at first but looking back at it now it makes me laugh. After that ride, though, I rode all the rollercoasters they had, including upside down ones and super fast ones, and also even went on Doctor Doom a second time. Riding all the rides and a little peer pressure with my friends got me to overcome my horrible fear of thrill rides and even to this day I sometimes get nervous on a new ride and have some gut wrenching feelings on them but overall I still go on them and still have a great time. I could go on, but I feel just a couple places was enough to talk about. I am interested in hearing some stories of places others have visited! Perhaps it can even give some people travel / vacation ideas!
  14. Currently I am listening to Jo Dee Messina's new album "Me". More specifically a few songs from it I especially like like "He's Messed Up" "Say Goodbye to Superman" and "A Woman's Rant". People often think I am strange for listening to Country music though
  15. No problem. I didn't even realize that it had this side-effect. Nice to know, actually! Thanks for the feedback!
  16. Thank you for your quick and informative answer. While googling I found that a lot of people report that SEO and Google bots seem to work better with Subfolders mainly because subdomains are often treated as its "own site" and therefore may carry a different ranking than the main site. Whereas folders leech onto and usually always have the same ranking score as the main site. While I do prefer the look of subdomains with certain things (like forums.blahblah.com rather than blahblah.com/forums) I do think in my specific case folder is going to win this time. Thank you for your response
  17. I have seen many a debate on whether to use subdomains or subfolders and what has the best SEO involved with it. I plan on calling my forum on one site "community" and am debating on either community.mysite.com or mysite.com/community/ In terms of SEO, which is tecnically "better" if any? In terms of user-friendliness, which works best for easy of use on the user? Any insight and advice is much appreciated! Wasn't sure if this should be posted in the general SEO forum or here (because I am using IPB). Apologies if it's in the wrong topic!
  18. Well budget wise I really have no set budget lol I would probably say 1,000 USD roughly? Games: The Elder Scrolls (Oblivion, Skyrim, etc), Star Wars: The Old Republic (MMO), Fable series, Terraria, Diablo 3, Portal games, Sims 2 & 3 (sims 3 really suffers on low end hardware due to coding), Grand Theft Auto games, etc etc. Mouse, I want just a decent wireless one, doesnt need to have 8 billion buttons either (i know some PC gamers love those kinds, i find them rather blech). Keyboard, wired or wireless but needs to be backlit. I am a night owl and dont like a lot of lights on so having a backlit keyboard is a must. My OS I plan on probably using Windows 7. Maybe dualboot 7 and 8.1 but I try to avoid 8. Too many conflicts with old games for my tastes. Monitor: Just one with a nice display. I currently use my HD Tv thru HDMI on my current laptop because the screen doesnt have as nice of color to it. When I get a desktop I want the quality and colors to be similar to my HD Tv. I also need it to be powerhoused enough to be running some programs (sometimes many all at once). Such as Adobe Audition, Photoshop, Web browsers, Audacity, and some video editing softwares. I do a lot with music and video editing and sometimes have a lot of applications open at once. And on my budget I am not expecting like Ultra settings but I would atleast like them to be mid to high. Tired of gaming on piece of crap rigs and on lowest of low settings.
  19. Tbh I was already planning on booting Windows 7 and Xubuntu. Mac is kinda "meh" for me. Only reason I would get it is for some producing software that is only made for Macs. But as for the drives, tbh I don't think I would need that much space. While I can fill up harddrives quite a bit I don't think I would really fill up multiple TBs worth of content. Atleast not right now anyways. But i think you for your advice nonetheless. Any advice on specific graphics cards, CPUs, etc?
  20. I know I made a topic not too long ago about gaming laptops. But out of curiosity I thought I might ask for people's input about building your own gaming desktop PC. If I did, it would be my first one. Any good resources, articles, or information you could provide to do it properly, efficiently and such? I am curious as to the process and what goes into it but I know googling online you can find some articles that may teach you how to do it, but not always the "Best" way or with improper practices or needless information. Any input would be much appreciated!
  21. Agree! Any recommendations from your end? I always ask for recommendations because different people have different experiences and know different things. You may know or list something others might not if not, that's fine.
  22. True, but max settings is always a plus and if I am going to invest money in a portable gaming rig, might as well make it the best one I can. As for the games, like I mentioned it would mostly be stuff like Elder Scrolls, Sims, Fable, Star Wars the old republic, DC online, grand theft auto, etc etc. Generic games a lot of people play.
  23. Well see my main point in a gaming laptop is that it won't JUST be used for gaming. I want a decent powered one that's going to be able to game, run things like Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, FL Studio, etc etc without a hitch. I am kind of stuck on the portability factor though. I often have a problem sitting down in one spot or space for too long, so portability is kind of a must. I plan on building my own gaming desktop one day but for now a laptop is more my need. Thank you all for your input thus far, though. Much appreciated!
  24. I am actually not familiar with Incapsula. I actually had to google what it was lol. What exactly do you mean by "keeps messing with the facebook users IP"? What exactly is it doing to them? What are they experiencing? Since I do not use Incapsula I am not familiar with the problem you speak of but perhaps with some more details we can dig up or found out an answer EDIT: By the way, thank you both for your kind words on my tutorials. Glad to see appreciation towards it and that I wrote it well enough for others to understand and utilize! Cheers!
