  1. The term "more secure" is rather ambiguous and could mean many different things in different situations. As for secure (or security) you need to fully understand the security mechanisms of the server where your board is hosted and the ways that server protects your data. Whenever I am installing a new board system the first steps to have a "good" security sheme is the way you set-up your servers virtual hosts and he permissions granted to the different pieces of code and server programs. I personally always use (80%) a LEMP stack VPS, and I always make sure to secure the MySql installation. If you have the funds (an extra 5$ a month) I recommend setting up a reverse proxy server that act in between the client you destination server. Another major security breach (for forums) is the Welcome email-> if your server is setup wrong the email that are sent out have your "real" IP or hosting provider IP. This enables anybody who signs up to your forum to know where your site is hosted.. It is then very easy to signup for an account on the same server and hack your database or fudge your site. I've seeen it, i've done it. The only way to "secure" you IPB or Xen or Social Eng (etc)installation is to secure the server it resides on. I also recommend replacing mysql with mariadb on your server.

  2. Hi. You need to up the limit for media links like youtube etc. Login in to your admin, click on System Settings > Manage Settings > Forums > Topics, Posts and Polls. Right at the very last option, 'Maximum number of media files per post', set this as you wish. River

  3. u just want to make the sizes of the text bigger right? not sure what u meant with the whole compatibility with the posts in phpbb cause i had a friend use the converter to convert ipb to phpbb and they didnt lose any post of theirs so kinda lost with what u meant anyway as for increasing the sizes u need to edit the defaults.php file located in admin/sources/classes/text/parser/bbcode in there u will find the php file afterwards u look for this code class bbcode_plugin_size extends bbcode_parent_main_class { /** * Mapped font sizes * * @access protected * @var array */ protected $font_sizes = array( 1 => 8, 2 => 10, 3 => 12, 4 => 14, 5 => 18, 6 => 24, 7 => 36, 8 => 48 ); and u can continue with the following like adding on like 8 => 48, 9 => 72 ); and so forth to make the text sizes bigger, hope this is what u wanted

  4. I've uploaded the Default BBCode that comes with 3.4.7, since converting isn't working for you maybe it'll work if you import the .xml file instead. I uploaded the xml file here: If it gets accepted, go ahead download it and then import it. Hopefully this will work for you.

  6. Username: Saviour First Name: James Age: 18 Rate your English out of 10: 8 Additional languages spoken: N/A Software specialization: IPB Detail your Moderator experience: I've had years of experience with various RSPS communities mostly with running some of the top communities (not sure if wanting names or not), while handling some of small communities. I've been an owner, developer (forum wise), global moderator, forum moderator out of my eight years of being apart of RSPS communities. My top highlights include handling donations, support relations, staff team, and ensuring the community runs completely stable in terms of rule breakers. I'm also a senior supervisor for one of the world's largest question and answer site (WikiAnswers or Answers). Other qualifications (such as programming languages, CMS, etc): Honestly, I might not have enough experience in terms of PHP, HTML, CSS (though these programming languages might be simple, I don't learn from simply looking at a couple of tutorials, or pictures - I'm a hands on learner) but personally, I have many experiences such as listening skills, paying attention to things around me, handling things with ease under stressful events and so on. I have always wanted someone to take me under their wing to mentor me in programming languages because I know for a fact it would benefit me in the future. I've had general experience with vBulletin and IPB as far as making sure that it looks professional, sleek, and welcoming however but in terms of programming the software itself, I would most definitely love to learn. What can you bring to the team? I believe I would be able to bring enthusiasm to reach new heights, achieve new goals, and do my absolute best to make sure that the website is free from rule breakers, spam, viruses and so on. I always try my best in every thing I'm apart of, especially a staff team. It brings a ton of experience because of the way we might come across an obstacle and having to test our limits. I can always learn my mistakes should I ever make one, and I know I will do my best. Why do you want to become a Junior Moderator? I might not be the most active on this forum, but I can ensure that I can bump that up to the standards that many people want to find in a moderator and of course without making it seem I'm power hungry for the position but most of all, I like to expand my horizons, with this said, I've never been apart of this type of community nor have I moderated for this type of community so it would definitely be a challenge that I would put my full 100 percent best in and hope that I will be guided through the way. I want to put more-and-more experience behind my name for future stuff such as jobs, and I always love taking on new challenges that I know I will do my best. The worst thing someone can tell me is no, even then, I will do my best to ensure that I will do what I can for the team.

  7. Username: Sanctuary First Name: Sanc (I'd prefer not to post my real name on a forum) Age: 17 Rate your English out of 10: 9 Additional languages spoken: Portuguese Software specialization: Invision Power Board, MyBB Detail your Moderator experience: I've had experience with forum moderation for quite some time now. I've been an Admin, Developer, Global/Super Moderator and many other positions on a vast number of forums these past few years, so I know how to play each and every role very well. I'm currently an Admin (Developer mainly) on a site with almost 4K members, I've been an admin on other boards with a few hundred members involved, and other small sites/projects. I've also owned a few forums with some friends here and there. Other qualifications (such as programming languages, CMS, etc): I've had over 2 years of experience with IP.Board and MyBB. I would give myself a minimum rating of 8/10 for IP.Board and a 7/10 rating with MyBB. I've also had over 2 years of experience with HTML & CSS, and a year's experience with jQuery. I've ripped, modified, and created a numerous amount of HTML/CSS templates, IP.Board skins, and MyBB themes throughout the years, I've also made a few small hooks for IPB ( others were either for myself or a paid mod for someone else). I've also made a few custom skin modifications recently, a few of which I personally haven't seen on an IP.Board skin. What can you bring to the team? My experience and knowledge with IPB and HTML/CSS can be useful around the forums for answering support questions or making tutorials. I also almost always have a good amount of free time sometime throughout the day, meaning I can check WF occasionally nearly daily, along with my moderation experience and skills to accompany my online time here. Why do you want to become a Junior Moderator? N/A
