  1. It's time once again for a WebFlake Updates thread. We make these to inform the community of changes we made to the site. Read 'em carefully! Registrations I've added some more Question & Answer challenges to reduce the chance of spambots registering. As always, if you see a spam post don't hesitate to hit that report button. Member Group Changes Yesterday i've implemented a system to possibly help us increase some of the member activity. It moves members to the "inactive members" group if they're inactive for a longer period of time. Here's how it works: If you do not post anything for a period of 30 days, you get moved to the "Inactive Members" group. After being moved to the inactive members group, you have 90 days to become active. (You become active by making at least one post) If you do not become active after a total of 120 days (30+90), your account will be deleted. You will then have to register at WebFlake again. Downloads System Restrictions For our normal "Members" group i've adjusted some values regarding download restrictions. This is to promote activity and reduce our bandwidth costs. As always, Donators get unlimited access and downloads. Maximum download speed: 100kb/s Wait period before download: 20 seconds Maximum downloads per day: 5 Maximum simultaneous downloads: 1 But to balance this out, we've added a NEW member group called "Advanced Members". They will still have restrictions, but because they have been active on WebFlake, their download restrictions are milder: Maximum download speed: 200kb/s Wait period before download: 10 seconds Maximum downloads per day: 10 Maximum simultaneous downloads: 2 Note that maximum simultaneous downloads is hardly noticeable, considering the fact that files are usually small in size and will be finished downloading before you even get to the next file's page. New Skin And to top it all off, i've put our new skin as everyone's default skin. This is now our new main skin. If you really liked the old one you can go back to it. I've also fixed an old bug that made our avatars too small in the author info portion of posts, so everything should be a-okay from now on! If you find bugs on this skin (i started from scratch building this skin), please PM me and i'll try to fix. Please provide your browser information aswell. That's all folks, till next time! Updated 04-July-2014 Advanced Members In addition to having milder download restrictions, advanced members now also have these perks: Profile Customization 15 Seconds Search flood (Instead of 30) Can view who gave reputation How can i become an advanced member? The current criteria for being an advanced member are that you need to be active and have over 50 posts. The value will probably change in the future.

  2. Hello guy's, I'm back on the forum after a long time without having posted anything. Your email reminds me that webflake is a community and not a download board like piratebay for example. I do download things on the site without writing comments in return. It is mostly because I give a note (with the stars) to the files and I think it's enough. I made a Donatin in the past. Webflake helped me and I wanted to thank you and help you back. I never asked for anything in return except that the site remains open. I'll try to post messages more often, but do not forget that some members may not be comfortable with English. I am French for example and I know many of us have a different native language. If I do not wrote on the forum, I still read the news and I try not to download too often! Last thing I did not really like receiving your email. It was a non-personalized message and I hate this kind of email because I get stuff like that all of the day and my inbox is full of spam or commercial messages! I hope, you wouldn't send too many email! ^^ By the way, I find the new template LEGEN-WAIT FOR IT(the show is finaly over)-DARY!!! Well done! (I hope that my english is readable! ^^)

  3. Good day! I'm sorry you felt insulted by our reminder e-mail but allow me to elaborate. This is the e-mail we send out: We're not accusing anyone of being a leach. We merely assume that after a month of no posts you're just here to profit from us by downloading files and not contributing anything or taking part in our community's discussions. Which is what, in the online world, they call being a leecher. We've tolerated this for a very long time, but we would like to see our activity go up and leeching (Downloading our files without taking part in our community) go down. Have a nice day!

  10. EDIT: I have created a custom BBCode for this script so there is no need for installing the script inside of your skin template. Original Post: Hello, Earlier, I showed you how you can make usernames on your forum flash in a "Rainbow" fashion. This tutorial will be very similar, but requires a few extra steps. This does not require "advanced" knowledge, just access to the Look & Feel and Member Groups section of your community's ACP. Let's begin. Firstly, you are going to navigate to ACP > Look & Feel > Your Skin > globalTemplate This piece of code is to be inserted towards the bottom of the script. For example, you could place it just above where you see something relevant to <!-- ::: Footer ::: --> <script> var speed=80 var hex=new Array("00","14","28","3C","50","64","78","8C","A0","B4","C8","DC","F0") var r=1 var g=1 var b=1 var seq=1 function changetext(){ for(i=0;i<document.getElementsByName("Rainbow").length;i++){ var storetext=document.getElementById? document.getElementsByName("Rainbow")[i] : document.all.highlight rainbow="#"+hex[r]+hex[g]+hex[b] storetext.style.color=rainbow } } function change(){ if (seq==6){ b-- if (b==0) seq=1 } if (seq==5){ r++ if (r==12) seq=6 } if (seq==4){ g-- if (g==0) seq=5 } if (seq==3){ b++ if (b==12) seq=4 } if (seq==2){ r-- if (r==0) seq=3 } if (seq==1){ g++ if (g==12) seq=2 } changetext() } function starteffect(){ if (document.all||document.getElementById) flash=setInterval("change()",speed) } starteffect() </script> Now to authorize user groups who can use the Rainbow text. We're now going to navigate withing the ACP to Members > Member Groups > Manage Member Groups This next step you will have to do for each group you want to be able to use this Rainbow text feature. Open the group, click on "Global", look for "Can Post HTML?" and tick the box over to "Yes". Save the group, and repeat as necessary. Since we have enabled it for the user groups, we must permit it on the forums. Let's work our way over to Forums > Manage Forums Again, you must repeat these steps for each forum area you wish to allow the Rainbow feature. Open the forum set you wish to apply the permissions to, and click on the Postable Settings tab. The first option should be "Enable HTML Posting (where allowed)", place the setting over to "Yes". Save the forum set, and repeat as necessary. Finally, we can post with our Rainbow text as an approved user in the appropriate forums. To do so, we're going to start a topic as normal. Once you are at the topic posting screen, look on the right hand side where you should see "Post Options" Tick the box on where you see "Enable HTML?" Place this before the text you wish to add Rainbow to: <span name="Rainbow"> And then place your text. At the end of your text, add this: </span> Things to note: *The rainbow will only show on skins that you add the script to. *It does not matter exactly where you place the script, as long as it is there and does not interrupt other code. *Only usergroups that you allow may use this on allowed forums. *This will only work in the forums you allow, regardless of user permission sets. *This will work wherever HTML is enabled, including signatures and about me.

  11. Okay, I struggled for about an hour or so getting this to work properly. All the tutorials I found on the net were somewhat outdated since Facebook updated the way they have their app setup now. I figured to save others the frustration, I would post how I got mine to work! The steps are as follows (I will try to make them the most accurate and easiest way possible)! I have also included images to help those who like visual instructions in the spoiler tags below each step! You will need to be logged in to both your Facebook account and your IP.Board's Admin Control Panel (Duh, lol) Go to https://developers.facebook.com/apps/ and click the "Create New App" button. Now, in "Display Name" enter what you want it to be named. The best thing is just the name of your website. Then select a category (I chose Entertainment) and then click the "Create App" button. You will need to also enter a captcha when you do. Just make sure you type the characters correctly (although if you have been on the internet for longer than a minute, I am sure you are used to captchas ) In the sidebar on the left hand side, click on "Settings". Now enter an email address for the contact email (this is required). You can use the same email address as your Facebook profile or the admin email you used for your IP.Board. It is up to you! Click the "Save Changes." button. Next, click the "Add Platform" button and click "Website". Now input the URL that you use for your board into the "Site URL" textbox. (This includes the subdomain if it is in one.) - Click the "Save Changes" button. Now, in the sidebar click on "App Details" and scroll down till you see the "Configure App Center Permissions" button. Click on it. Next, where it says "Auth Token Parameter" click the dropdown and select the "URI Fragment (#access_token=...)" option. Now where it says "App Center Permission", enter in the following permissions (it will bring up selectable things as you type so when you are typing, if you see it listing below as you type, click on it.): email, read_stream, publish_actions. Click the "Save" button. Next, click back on "Settings" in the left sidebar and click on the "Advanced" tab. Find the section "Deauthorize Callback URL". In the textbox for Deauthorize Callback URL you will be using this URL, tailored to your boards url: http://your-board-url.com/interface/facebook/index.php When you are finished click the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the page! Next, click on the "Status & Review" button in the left sidebar, and click the little toggle button next to "Do you want to make this app and all its live features available to the general public?" to enable the App to be activated. This will bring up a dialog box asking if you want to make it public. Click the "Confirm" button. Now, login and go to your IP.Board's Admin Control Panel. Under the "Application & Modules" category on the left sidebar, click "Community Enhancements". Then, click on "Facebook". This step will be pretty long (long-ish) but here goes. Go back to your facebook app stuff and click the "Dashboard" button in the left side Sidebar. You will see some stuff that says "App ID" and "App Secret" click the "Show" button next to App Secret to display it. You are going to copy both these fields into their appropriate equivalent textbox fields in the Facebook settings stuff we just opened in IP.Board. (e.g. copy App ID into Application ID, Secret into Secret key). Keep all the other settings the way they are on the IP.Board side and click the "Save" button. NOTE: If you keep the 'Facebook "Real name/Display name" handling' option as "Allow User's Choice" you MUST have the setting to let users choose display names ON. (This can be found and edited in System Settings -> "Members" tab -> Username Restrictions -> Display Name Restrictions -> Allow display names) Now go into the register or login pages on your board (you must be logged out of your admin account but still logged into facebook, obviously ) and test to see if it works. If it does, it will open facebook and ask if you want to have the app gain access to your info (email and profile info used for registration). And if you follow the prompts accordingly, you will be linked back to your forums with the option to use the Facebook login to create a new forum account or link it to an already existing one! That's it! You have successfully setup the Facebook login/registering feature on your board! Congrats! All these steps worked on my end, doing it twice, both succeeding. If it worked for you, let me know. If it doesn't work, also let me know and we can troubleshoot. If you liked this post and thought it was helpful, a nice PM or message is always appreciated as well as voting this post up to help out my Rep. Cheers!

  16. It is a perfect word for around 90% of this community... Out of 970 pages of member 814 of those member have 0 posts. If you come here just for the resources and give nothing back what do you think you are doing? Here is the official definition for leech.. I understand this will happen in every community but there should be a little giving back. Therefor leech is the perfect word to use in this context.

  36. Hi - I would like to suggest that you reconsider the language you use in the inactive email notification that you send. It is extemely offensive. Perhaps English is not your native language but to accuse someone of being a leach is extremely vulgar and inflammatory. The word carries a connation of immoral depravity. Submitted.
