WebFlake Feature Plan

Keep up to date with what we have planned for WebFlake going forward!
  1. Currently, we allow members with Marketplace access to post a topic there to hire someone with a license to purchase content from an official marketplace. While this is a great option, we want to give our users a dedicated area to complete such transactions with the added security of our new verification process.

  2. What would the purpose of this front page be?

    • Present major announcements on the main page
    • Dynamic FAQ and Knowledgebase
    • Features page that promotes our community and donation system
    • Daily / Weekly blogs on tips, tricks, or other tutorials
    • In-depth analysis of WebFlake, its team, and its history
    • .. and an opportunity to modernize this site.

  3. We want to give our users a reason to keep coming back. By adding a weekly/monthly newsletter, we hope that users will be encouraged to return often.

Currently, this newsletter would include things such as, but not limited to:

    • Recent File Submissions
    • Top-rated / Most-downloaded Files
    • A brief overview of recent Release Notes
    • Major announcements
    • Additions/Changes to our Feature Plan

  4. This is a placeholder for our upcoming activation and customization of the Clubs feature.

Please submit ideas to our Ideas page.

  5. Once this page is available, users will be able to submit applications for Junior Moderator, Support Team, and Uploader roles. Only Staff will be able to view these applications and users will be able to engage in conversation with Staff via comments for their own application.

Available roles to apply for are subject to change.

  6. Someone once told me that WebFlake is "run like a business" and the reality is, they are right. WebFlake is a business but somewhere along the way, between Staff shakeups, spam posts, and wildly inconsistent activity, we lost sight of community. Phun and I built WebFlake on the foundation of friends, fun, and passion. Perhaps I'm naive in thinking we can bring that back but we're going to try and it starts with the basics: new discussion forums for entertainment, gaming, and even sports. Rather than feeling that you have nothing worthwhile to post, we want to provide everyone with a platform to post something. Let's create some new memories.

  7. Display an icon or badge, in the postbit, user profile, or both, that denotes the user has been verified by administration to possess an actual software license to assure users that engage in trades or sales that the verified user can be trusted.

This can also be extended to include users who have completed a discretionary or predetermined number of transactions within our marketplace.

  8. We're bringing back our old email reminders for inactive users and will begin putting together a monthly/quarterly newsletter to aid with member retention.

  9. Now that we are doing away with the donator area on the site (downloads/chat), we are going to replace it with a ticket system that will allow for our donators to receive prioritized support from our team. We've not yet hashed out whether this will be available to all donators or if it will only be available to certain tiers, so we will release more information when we have it.

  10. We're currently using a heavily-modified version of the default 4.2 theme but we'd like to create a new design that features both light and dark editions.

  11. We don't yet have an ETA, likely won't happen for a few weeks yet, but our intention is to upgrade WebFlake to IPS 4.2.x and all of our corresponding applications and plugins. We're not yet certain how much of our custom theme will continue to function with 4.2 so we may have to switch to a public theme or stick with the default IPS theme.

  12. Nothing special but we think it'll add a nice touch to the site until we upgrade to IPS 4.2 (where this feature will be default).

  13. Implement and customize WebFlake's very own Feature Plan, modeled after the IPS4 Feature Plan.

  14. Current Staff format is likely to be adjusted. May introduce new "sectional moderators" that will be assigned to specific software categories.

  15. Opted to utilize a similar design to the IPS Release Notes for WebFlake. Enjoy!

  16. Been a while since we did this so about damn time!

  17. On June 13th, WebFlake will be taken offline to upgrade our hosting environment, which is primarily our resources and new server. WebFlake will be much faster, much more responsive, and should offer better uptime at more affordable rates.

We're excited for the big move as it will accommodate the demand of IPS4 and our ever growing database.

  18. By default, IPS4 only formats usergroup names / titles in a small number of sections on the site. By addon or by customization, WebFlake will be formatting its usergroup names and member titles.. site-wide.

  19. WebFlake needs to leave the stone age. Plenty of our users have found us via a simple Google search but just as many find us by way of our semi-inactive social media pages (Facebook and Twitter). A big step to increasing our social media presence would be to offer SSO (Single Sign-On) solutions that will allow you to sync your Twitter and Gmail accounts with your WebFlake account. This will be completely optional, of course. We'd also like to display a Twitter feed on the site and offer more tools to interact with us on social media during downtime and just for every day use!

  20. Upgrading to IPS4 was a huge step forward for WebFlake and long overdue, even. Site administration and moderators worked tirelessly to ensure that any applications / hooks (plugins) that were being used on the 3.4 edition of WebFlake were available for IPS4 or at the very least, had a reasonable alternative. WebFlake did leave a few features behind but nothing we couldn't do without for the sake of continuing to provide a stellar and valuable service to its community.

  21. WebFlake's supporters are essential to this community's future. We'll be exploring additional options for expanding perks and advantages for our Donators to not only make donation worth it more than ever, but as a continued 'thank you' to those who continue to support us.

  22. Let's add a bit of flair to WebFlake. We opted to utilize the default theme with a few necessary edits in order to allow ourselves to focus on potential bugs with the site and immediate upgrades. We're now nearly two weeks removed from our official launch of the IPS4 version of WebFlake; time to shake things up a bit and put together a custom theme.

  23. We'd like to reopen our donation system offering a handful of packages, possibly even tiers for donating.
