A Question.

If I have a pirated copy of something.. (A plugin for Ableton Live, a VST), that I downloaded over someone ELSE's wifi, but put on my PC via USB, and denied Internet access for the .exe file of that plugin, would it be possible for the company of that plugin to tell if I'm using a pirated version? (Don't wanna get sued)

Thanks.

Even if they did find out the cost of suing you would be more then it's worth so, I doubt if any legitimate company would even try.

Pretty much this. I've used torrented plugins for Ableton before without any issues, though that was for Live 7 and 8 so unless they changed something in 9 you should be good. Even if they know you pirated it, there's countless others who've done the same thing. The chances of anything happening to you are extremely small.

No. Lol. That would be a breach in your computer security, and a violation of your privacy. The only way for them to track you, is from torrent trackers. And even that must be done from the ISP level. Basically it's more trouble and money then it's worth. Even most ISPs won't do anything about it, because your paying for their Internet service, your privacy is very important. Without a court order, an ISP won't give up your personal information.
