how do replace myforum.com/topic/xxxxxxx be myforum.com/discussion/xxxxxxx?

here's a simpler solution.login to hosting panel,,

edit file conf_global

 

chsnge the base/board url to desired,, recache/rebuild furl. enjoy.

 

you can also edit file offline and then upload via ftp.

 

(make sure to move everything from /topic to /discussion)

We're changing the base url/directory of board as earlier it was pointing to : /topic and now to /discussion

and then rebuilding furl to comply changes occured.

 

I did this many time on my board.

I have my board at */forum (www.abcd.com/forum and then changed it to www.abcd.com and then back to earlier /forum due to some reasons.And then i have a dummy board at address /forum2 which is exact replica of main forum (copy paste) to test all new changes/upgrades before applying to main board.so i copy paste contents of /forum to /forum2 and change conf_global and then rebuilt furl and change settings in ACP > settings.

Sob wants to change the word "topic" to "discussion" not change the board url.
