How do I replace default forum avatars with usergroup avatars only?

I'm pretty fresh to this platform, hence I hereby ask for your help.

Tried using this code:

.cAuthorPane_photo{
  display:none;
}

But it only removed the avatar on the thread post as what it shown below:

If you just want to replace the default photo:

• AdminCP → Customization → Appearance → Themes → Your current Theme → Manage Resources
• Search for default_photo.png → Edit → Resource

Or did you want to have varying default photos based on users current user group?

Thank you very much for your reply. Sadly if I was only to change the default_photo, all users avatar will remain the same. So yes, I want every group to have a different avatar but whoever is in a certain group to have the same avatar.
