How will coronavirus affect internet speed? anyone has expertise to predict if speed will dramatically decrease during these times or something similar?

The internet speed at least where I am at hasn't really been effected. I still have my full 1 gigabits speed.

In Italy we are all facing problems of speed between 6pm and 9pm

No significant difference between now and then.... Everything is normal as usual .. cos we just have few death cases.. 35 or so

For the average user, I doubt there will be a visible difference. For online games, servers may struggle to handle a sudden influx in traffic but that's something you would really only find with indie games. Beyond that, in a world filled with mobile devices, I can't see how bandwidth issues could really arise.

I think there will be some latency spikes from time to time expecially for MMO players , but not too much to be unplayable.

I think it will have an impact many services like Netflix and other online streaming services have reduced their streaming quality to help with the spike of internet use. In some countries I'm sure it won't affect much. I guess it's mostly urban cities where alot of people are working from home would be affected.

My phone providers internet speeds have been awful recently with max download of 3mbs speed. Used to be around 20+

According to some of my estimates, the speed of the Internet will not decrease, but some activated sites (business sites, etc.) will decrease for the given reason. Now there is a possibility that I am wrong, but that is my guess.

I know that this is a old topic but the only thing I noticed dramatically affected was customer support.

I called my networking company a few times and it took minimum a hour just to speak with someone.

I feel sorry for you guys.. our African leaders are using this covid-19 as an advantage to loot public funds.. 

And there is nothing like covid-19..

I wish the virus will come for real and kill our leaders .
