I'm pleased to announce that WebFlake is now offering paid advertising, available through our Store.

Currently, we're only serving these advertisements via the header, directly below our navigation menu. There are two packages available to choose from, the only difference being the length of time that your chosen advert will display on our site; one is for two weeks and the other is for a month.

Our monthly package is currently priced at $70 USD and our bi-weekly package (two weeks) is priced at $30 USD.

When making your purchase, you will be asked to provide your banner (multiple versions for various resolutions can be provided) as well as a URL for the redirect. We've added a few stipulations to these adverts:

  • Banner is limited to a maximum size of 725x90 pixels and can be in animated (GIF) or non-animated (JPG/PNG) format.
  • We do not allow submissions that contain graphic nudity, racism, sexism, or otherwise offensive content.
  • Submissions that make use of obnoxious flashes, flickering, or otherwise impede readability of our website will not be approved.

We have a few additional terms for you to be aware of:

  • We do not prevent the usage of Adblock software/plugins on our website.
  • WebFlake reserves the right to block or remove any advert at any time for any reason.
  • Refunds will not be provided.

After you've made your purchase, your submission will enter a queue for review by a member of our administrative team.

You can view our advertising packages here:

Feel free to let us know what improvements we can make, below.

Sounds like a great idea but. why would you lead your members away from the site? if an ad is placed for a site that is well not unlike this it might make members leave this one and set up home at another. then there is the cost don't you think that its a little inflated. like $30 for two weeks $50 a month I don't get the $70? when 4 weeks would cost $60 any how im sure you will clear things up.

Advertisements are less about leading members to another community and more about affording paying customers with a chance at increased traffic for their own community, while providing revenue for WebFlake. There's no guarantee of clicks much less permanent residence at the advertised site and since we aren't going to permit the submission of sites that are similar in nature to WebFlake, it poses absolutely no risk to us.

Price is based on market value and is much more competitive than peer sites. WebFlake is averaging nearly 6k unique views per 24 hours with a sub-5% bounce rate in that same span. Great numbers for a site that has been declared "dead" by its competitors.

As for why there is a price hike for the monthly term, it's to prevent a monopoly on adverts. Submissions are placed into a first come, first serve queue and will be rotated frequently.

Its one of those aint it ads keep a site going can add some revenue. but then on the other hand some do use add block I don't but that's just down to preference. My point was charging for ads and effect that it might have on the site in a whole. But seems like ads are going to be selected so there is no conflict in interests.

Going to purchase now ;)

LE: Done. Can't wait to see it live. Already turned off the adblocker ;)

LE2: You said that the max approved dimension is 725x90 but the standard is 728x90. You may want to look into that.

LE3: Awesome. It's live :)

I have one concern regarding advertisements:

Before purchasing, I believe that providing some form of statistical data for the amount of views, clicks, etc. would benefit sales.
