Humaniac 2
I've already tried out some hardware and software to make my media collection (movies, series, other videos, music, audiobooks and radio plays) more accessible. In the end I found the combination of a NAS drive (QNAP HS-251+) and the PLEX Media Server in premium mode (Lifetime Premium) as my only optimal alternative. What does it look like for you? Do you have a multiple TB-sized media collection, and if so, how did you make it accessible? Edited December 26, 2018 by Humaniac

gkid_118 1
I use emby, great media server and service that you can also use to get iptv services working on a broad range of services and ip's.
Humaniac 2
I was once smart about this free media server program "emby". Also a good tool, as it looks. Nevertheless I noticed immediately that some functions are only usable in the premium version, which are already included in the basic version of Plex. Yesterday, after I opened this post here in the forum, I was invited by Plex to test the Alexa function in German. The English version has been around for quite some time. But we had to wait even longer for the German version. I've already installed the skill, but I haven't tried it yet.
Cookie Monster 673
Personally I got a Qnap TS-212 This is used to only store movies, and then i use a small tower this is a pc that runs windows xp normally so its about 8 years old. Running docker and have everything. I'm running for movies, Radarr and for Series i got Sonarr. So the server only downloads the files and controls where they go on the drive renames files etc. It also has a MySQL database to store where in movies i am so I have full pause, resume functionality across devices. The NAS is only used for storage. For players I use 2 Raspberry PI one in the bedroom one in the living room. Both running libreelec which is a fork of Rasbian with Kodi. Works great and Everything is one button away. Any device on my home network that has Kodi can now watch and resume straight from the NAS. I can configure and open the port to have 3g/4G playback but havn't seen the need for it. As a added bonus I use my 4x Google Home mini so i can issue voice commands to play, pause, resume movies on any device. 1 Liked what i posted remember to feed me a cookie ->Or you can add a cookie to my

Humaniac 2
Since I got a HD HomeRun Expand cable/network receiver with 4 tuners as a gift from SiliconDust's SEO Theodor (Ted) Head, I only had PLEX Media Server because of the integrated EPG and TV recording function. These newly created files are also assigned to their destination folder by PLEX and my previous destination.

Why are you hoping for this and not just buying one? Android TV boxes are not expensive. I have one of my own which is lying around somewhere in its original packaging. But I don't use it myself, because I don't think too much of KODI, although it's quite good software. But if I were you, I'd actually buy a TV box instead of a stick. Have a look in my shop. There you will find for example a very good one: -Link Removed- Please do not misunderstand: this is no invitation to buy from me in the shop! This is only to show you the model of the device. Until two years ago I was also more for the small things like Android TV boxes and Kodi etc.. But at some point I got to know PLEX and was immediately enthusiastic, without knowing that it was also available for NAS devices. Then I got the network/cable receiver with four tuners out of GB from SiliconDust. Since then also my two cable receivers, which I had used up to then, lie only somewhere around and get dusty. Stating that this is just to show you the model after your saying it's your shop kind of contradicts itself.
