Wast3d 1
Hello guys, i came back to forum hosting after several years and i just noticed that vbulletin isnt a thing anymore. What happened to it and why did it fail so hard after releasing vb4?
Jeffrey 366
Paying a few hundred dollars for a forum software with security flaws is not ideal anymore. There are a lot of free, open sourced alternatives that work a lot better than vB. Devolus 0
Vbulletin always were a piece of crap that didn't got any security implemented
Bowsta 0
Swapped off a long time ago due to the security issues and never looked back. Imagine a lot of others did as well.
Lindeth 0
I wanted to try once, but it looked too advanced for me, so it's definitely not for users like me.
Lady C 184
vbulletin failed because it stopped listening to it's costumers and fired all of their good forum support staff.
dimitris_p 0
I bought it and tested it I did not like it all. ipb is very good Edited October 25, 2018 by dimitris_p
Pleya 0
while vb4 matured quite well over time, vb5 is just a mess. slow, buggy, not very feature-rich. and that has not changed even after all those years that it has been on the market now. i once tested it, never touched it again. I thought that is was bought by another company and most of the original coders left and started Xenforo. The new owners are the ones that destroyed VBulletin. I paid for Vbulletin Connect 5.0 after clearly not doing enough research and relying on the vBulletin name from years ago. Big Mistake - it was sooo buggy. They dropped features that were popular and have only now just bought some of them back. Hence why i am now using IPS
KareraWaHekku 0
Not enough features anymore and was not keeping up with current progress of Forum Software. You can find a ton of better software for Forums free just by installing Wordpress on a Server.
the_bluenose 0
Must admit I did purchase an original license for vB. The support was great (most of the time) but iirc I had to slip a guru a few dollars to fix up problems I had over the years. One good thing was the Tapatalk forum app (not sure if there is such a thing for IPS?). But yeah, it was forever going wrong with database issues, an awkward backend system that required a degree in fathoming, expensive licenses and really lost it's direction from v4. Shame!
