Guest Xtewart
Hi! I wonder how has been your experience using nulled forums (especially IPB)? Have you received warnings from IPB? Have you had serious problems with IPB? maybe legal? Have you closed your forums because of that? It's easy for IPB, find a nulled forum? What happen to the host of your site when you get a report? What do you advise newcomers using nulled forums? Any tip to avoid being reported? I am about to launch an IPB forum dedicated to a singer, but I can't imagine what would happen if I get warnings from IPB and have to close it... First because I have a forum in a free website with more than 1000 users and I'd have to start from zero using this new platform, second I had a hard time learning the platform and customize it and third by the reaction of users... But I really want to do it :S
Guest thomash131
I've been using nulled IPBoard on an offshore host for six months. I've had no warnings or nothing. It's just not worth the cost for IP to pursue you, instead they're more likely to go after those who upload the software to the net, such as webflake. Just take backups regularly and you'll be fine. If you do begin to attract attention from IP, which I seriously doubt you would, then you'll just need to save up and buy their software. Chances are, that if you have IP investigating you, you'll be big enough to be able to buy the software from donations.

The General
I've never had a problem with nulled installations nor have I had a problem with licenseless installations either I get more trouble from vB more than anything when it comes to nulled
Guest Hackless
Using a retail version of IPB is much better, in my opinion. Just remove the license key missing warnings from the templates, and be sure to set your "licensed to" information to something that sounds legit, and you shouldn't have any issues. My website has been running on HostGator (notorious for deleting nulled forums without warning) for over a year now without a hitch!

UndergroundNet
If you're using Offshore hosting, you can run as many nulled scripts as you want. They don't care.

Nulled content by definition, is the "nullifying" of trace-backs, callbacks, link-backs, and an all around removal of any developer-implemented security measures. By doing that, you obviously lessen your chances of being "caught". So saying that IPS pursues "nulled" users "more", simply doesn't make any sense. Whether you've removed those protocols or you haven't, it's still pirated content and IPS isn't going to pick the lesser of two evils. You're using their product without a license, breaching copyright.. simple as that.
Guest Hackless
Invision used to send out free copies of their software for testing. If I remember correctly, unlicensed IPB installs are not against the law or against IPB terms and conditions, just you won't be able to get official downloads, support, etc for these. With a nulled copy, you are showing that you have no intention to ever purchase the program, with an unlicensed copy, you could just be evaluating the software for all the host knows. Then again, I haven't gotten (or requested) a free test copy of IPB since 2.0 came out, so they may not do that anymore.
Guest ash7890
I have used nulled software for a while now including IPB, Vbulletin, and XenForo and have not had a problem with any of them .

Guest Castle
A lot of people experience really unnecessary paranoia about nulled scripts, mainly because they don't realize what a nulled board even is. Nulling just removes the protection a standard licensed forum has. It doesn't make it blatantly obvious that it's nulled on first glance, unless IPB/xF/vB catches wind of your forum and checks to see if it's registered in the database. Normally that's when people freak out. But here's the deal. After they realize your forum isn't legitimate, they can't do anything to you personally (aside from sending you some threatening e-mails which don't really mean anything.) They will, however, ask your host to take down your site and spout out various stupid reasons for them to do so. An on-shore web host like Hostgator will browse through your files, determine they're nulled, delete them and terminate your account. But an off-shore host is not bound by any laws and therefore doesn't need to check your files, because they'll lose a customer and gain nothing. About 10% of off-shore hosts may actually ban your account, but that's highly unlikely. There's literally nothing IPB, XenForo of vBulletin can do to make you shut down your board. The only person that can shut you down is your webhost. And if your webhost is nonchalant, lazy or simply doesn't give a damn if your boards are nulled, you won't go down no matter how big you get.

I agree with all points, minus the it isn't "blatantly obvious that it's nulled on first glance" tidbit. Most nulled releases remove the copyright hyperlink in the footer, which makes it pretty damn obvious.

A few IPB versions ago you could change the ['copyright'] code in the globaltemplate.php and put a <a href> link in, imitating the real thing. They patched it and now if you try, it won't do anything. On 3/15/2013 at 4:02 AM, Xtewart said: - Snip.- Ha! I use Retail that I nulled myself on Hostgator. HG don't allow nuled scripts at all...
