Did you ever buy an antivirus?

I've always used the free version of Avast anti-virus and have never had an issue with any sort of viruses or performance issues. Though, I did buy an extension of Avast at one point to clear up old files and other random programs that were tedious enough in removing to spend around 7 USD. However, I think some anti-virus software purchases could be beneficial if you feel you download/browse through a lot of (potentially) risky files and sites. Otherwise, much protection is done through personal awareness and prevention.

Like years ago, I would just use free anti virus or even just use the default windows defender. However, now I always use Malware Bytes premium since I think that it is the best in my opinion.

I have never bought one but I have been given plenty of free *Trials of Norton and McAfee, neither of which I would touch with a barge pole.

I also use Nod32 at the moment, had no major issues with it, I know plenty who just don't bother and use Windows Defender.
