I never bought any. First thought about Norton, later saw that Norton itself is a virus. :-/ It makes system slow and after uninstalling, it still resides in the registry and works to make the system slow. After that I started to use AVG. It was good around the year 2000 and after that my computer got infected and AVG coud not find the virus. :-/ Then I got Avira. It was not Avira back then, it was 'Antivir'. The FREE version just knocked me out and since that day till present, I use Avira, obviously the FREE version. With it I use PCtools Firewal, now not under production, but it is doing its job perfectly. And when torrenting, I use Peerblock additionally and TOR of course.

The point is, that every big antivirus company use the same technology (or at least the engine) to catch viruses.
This is called the AV Engine.

It's almost the same as you would buy a graphiccard from ZOTAC, Gainward etc.
They are all based on NVIDIA's GPU and Gainward upgrades it with 2 or 3 fans, better looking case and stuff.

No. I just use the built-in Windows Defender in Windows 10.

I don't like how virus scanners slow down your PC. And more often than not, I'm noticing they're packed with bloatware.

We're forced to use Symantec at work, and I hate it.
