Faboo 7
The most important thing to have on the website (because you said "no members or anything") is quality and content. You need to have content on the forums already that is different from everyone else's, to make your site interesting. Also, no one wants to join an empty site. Exterminator 30
Depends on what your community is going to be like.

Evarni 174
If I were to make a brand new site tomorrow, this is how I would advertise: [*]As Faboo said, the first step is to add quality original content. In short order, this will get your site indexed on Google. Plus it will allow you to proceed to the next step . . [*]Do not advertise your website. Instead, advertise the content on the site. For example, let's say you have a gaming site and you just wrote an interesting topic about a new Skyrim mod you developed. Here's how you would advertise your site using that:Use the +1 button to quickly advertise your Skyrim mod on your Google+ page or community. (You might also ask permission to post your relevant content on someone else's Google+ community pageLook for Facebook pages about Skyrim, and post a link to your new mod there.Check Yahoo Answers for people asking for a great place to get Skyrim modsPost your article on StumbleUpon using the proper gaming categoryPost your article on Pinterest, and put it in a Gaming boardPost a link to your article on Twitter and use the hashtag #skyrim or whatever the most common hashtags is for Skyrim mods are The lesson here is you want to drive people to your content, not to your website. Because your website is so new, people may not find it interesting enough to browse. But if you point them to the right place, they will read what your posted and may share it with others, or join your site to participate in the conversations. Administrator Tony 5,207 Posted February 26, 2013 Administrator Share Posted February 26, 2013 Pro tip: You may already own a domain, however, if you head over to GoDaddy and purchase a low-tier DNS (such as a .us or .info), you can earn a free $50 credit for Bing/Facebook (each). Low-end domain extensions are generally very cheap (something like $2, if that). You can even use this code (CJCFWD35F) at checkout for 35% off. (Yep, I have cool codes like that.) Essentially, not only will you own an extra domain with your chosen name, but you'll have some free credits to use!

Guest ComponY
Like posted above, you're going to want content. Now a domain name is also very important. It's good to have a semi-short domain, and something that people can easily remember. This way, they can just type it in. You're going to want to limit your staff in the beginning but tell them that you need staff, and they have to earn it. It will create more activity. Maybe do some giveaway's, or contests, and tell your friends on Skype. Things like this attract lot's of people. Who doesn't like free stuff right? Last, you might want to buy some backlinks, and thinks like that. It will help a lot. You will also need to optimize your SEO settings. This is crucial for people searching the web. Hope this helped! Enjoy!

Guest Forum
Also post multiple threads on a bunch of forum promotion websites about your sites and update them daily to bump them to the top!
Administrator Tony 5,207 Posted February 26, 2013 Administrator Share Posted February 26, 2013 Also post multiple threads on a bunch of forum promotion websites about your sites and update them daily to bump them to the top! One should review such forum promotion websites' posting policies before spam-bumping an advertisement thread -- it's just bad form, and is generally frowned upon in most professional communities. Disregarding basic etiquette could give a site a bad rapport before it ever has a chance to expand.

Forumpromotion, forumhour, promotion-box, and many more I have on my list are there souly for the promotion of your own sites and your thread can be bumped once a day! I hate it when forums spam and neglect rules on other forums, what I'm doing is what the forum wanted/wants me to do!
Administrator Tony 5,207 Posted February 26, 2013 Administrator Share Posted February 26, 2013 I'm sure you weren't suggesting that, I just meant that the OP should be careful about how he conducts himself elsewhere as a representative of his site. I've seen a lot of people beleaguer their site before it ever has a chance.
