ryanjkita 28
I am eventually going to be getting a gaming laptop in the future. I am a budget kind of guy, and I know gaming hardware doesn't come cheap. My question is, for any gamers out there, what are some of the best gaming laptops on the market? Which are the worst? What should and shouldn't I look for? I do my research for the most part and price wise, for what you get, I like what I see with the Qosmio line by Toshiba. My main areas of playing would be things like Skyrim, Oblivion, the MMO of Star Wars: The Old Republic, Sims 2 & 3, etc etc. Edited May 21, 2014 by ryanjkita

What benchmarks? Any issues with it at all? Even the slightest con? Sorry for interrogating lol but I just like to do a LOT of research on things. Kingy 317
What is your budget may I ask? Really.. I'd stay away from anything that mentions "Gaming" as they usually hike the price up by at least £200 just because it's described as a gaming laptop if you only have a small(ish) budget. ryanjkita 28
Well right now I am about as broke as can be. But once I am able to save up money I am getting one, asap. I believe a healthy budget for a good laptop for gaming would be anywhere from 1,200 - 2,500 USD depending on how much power I want it to have. I am not a huge hardcore gamer but I despise any kind of lag caused by crappy hardware. The rig I am on right now can handle playing Skyrim on the lowest possible settings. It's horrendous. Norg 12
If you have the room and are desperate for a gaming machine then I would recommend that you build your own desktop machine.
Craigyy 9
If you're a "Budget" guy, don't even bother looking for a gaming laptop, the battery life of them is terrible when gaming and they don't compare to desktop ones when you consider the price... Gaming hardware can come cheap, if you know what to look for. If it's space you need to save, build a M-ITX gaming rig, they can come in VERY small form factors... But if you're set on a gaming laptop and don't mind the extra on the price. The MSI GP-70 or GE-60 are the best options for a budget gaming laptop...
Luke 13
I totally support building your own desktop, "gaming" laptops tend to be over-hyped and priced. I wouldn't buy a pre-built "gaming" PC either. At the end of the day you can always save up the money to build a gaming rig and buy a decent laptop.
norubbers 1
Whatever you get DO NOT get DELL that's pretty much.
ryanjkita 28
Well see my main point in a gaming laptop is that it won't JUST be used for gaming. I want a decent powered one that's going to be able to game, run things like Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, FL Studio, etc etc without a hitch. I am kind of stuck on the portability factor though. I often have a problem sitting down in one spot or space for too long, so portability is kind of a must. I plan on building my own gaming desktop one day but for now a laptop is more my need. Thank you all for your input thus far, though. Much appreciated! Luke 13
IIf you just want to play basic games every now and then you might not even need a "gaming" laptop just one with a dedicated on board GPU. You don't HAVE to play at max settings. Edited May 25, 2014 by Luke

You don't HAVE to play at max settings. True, but max settings is always a plus and if I am going to invest money in a portable gaming rig, might as well make it the best one I can. As for the games, like I mentioned it would mostly be stuff like Elder Scrolls, Sims, Fable, Star Wars the old republic, DC online, grand theft auto, etc etc. Generic games a lot of people play. Luke 13
Ahh, so not SUPER intensive stuff, I'd say go with what appeals to you and you can afford, sometimes you should treat yourself and get what you want for the hell of it!

Agree! Any recommendations from your end? I always ask for recommendations because different people have different experiences and know different things. You may know or list something others might not if not, that's fine.
Luke 13
Unfortunately no, I built a hackintosh (Mac OSX is my home, and always will be) I might be able to look around for you though. EDIT: looking at various sites, your budget should be able to accomidate something decent. EDIT 2: I'm not super intriguied by mobile gaming, therefore my knowledge on the nvidia "m" cards is well, not the best, however, this seems like a pretty nice laptop. I'm not totally sure about the benchmarks, I'm sure there is a video on youtube/vimeo/whatever that'll show you that information I hope I was some help.
