OpFor 39
I've never been a big fan of them. IMO it kinda looks unprofessional and you guys just shouldn't do it in the first place. If people don't want to follow the rules, warn them, suspend them, or even permaban them, but the reminders do nothing but clog up the announcements forum with stuff that isn't of particular value (we have the rules already, so...). If people don't want to listen then just deal with them appropriately, I'm sure you have all learned that it is literally impossible to get the message to the stupid people on the internet (aka all the idiots who need the reminder). Just a thought. 1
Envy 5
I agree with the clog up. The announcements are filled with reminders. I would like to see some more cool Announcements and Updates they use to do within that forum. All the reminders that the site already has is enough. Making a reminder topic just adds more clutter. Like he stated above just Warn | Ban | Suspend them. This is a resource site, a site that helps other people. If they want to abuse the features this site offers, then ban them. Then they will realize that they need Webflake, not Webflake needs them. Edited May 11, 2014 by Envy 1
Administrator Tony 5,207 Posted May 11, 2014 Administrator Share Posted May 11, 2014 I had a long-winded response to this, but then thought better of it. I'll keep it short and sweet, with two points: We're not a business. We are a community. Whether our announcements look "professional" or not is irrelevant. Calling someone a dumbass is considered poor customer service. If I think you're a dumbass, I'll say so -- because we're not a business. Sometimes clarification is necessary. Our guidelines weren't put together under the pretense of knowing every potential loophole or exploit that would be found in the future. There is no mention of not being able to advertise your marketplace topic in other parts of the forum, thus my clarification of such today. Could we ban users whimsically? Sure. Are we going to? Nope. Bottom line, if the subject matter is relevant and worth announcing, it'll be posted as an Announcement. Do I care if anyone reads it? Not at all. It's your responsibility to do so. This way, when we do ban users for failing to adhere to our guidelines, we can cite that announcement. Just because we offer licensed products for free here, doesn't mean we're without principle.

I totally agree with you. For example when I first joined I read all of the rules every month or so I will read them again so I'll remember them. But I saw Davlin's "reminder" about advertising even though if I didn't remember that rule I could have got a warning. Even the smartest people sometimes need reminders.
Debug 41
We'll remove them as soon as you guys learn to abide by the rules without us having to shove them down your throats. Which will probably never happen anyways. Announcements are for you, we know our rules already.
