How to add various sidebar tabs like on webflake

Hello again, I have observed that there are various sidebar tabs on webflake, like content feed, recent status update, Top best answers etc. But on the default IP Board it only has one tab (Recent Topics). So is there a certain hook which enabled the admin to add more tabs ont he sidebar, or these are different hooks which are added on the sidebar or it is possible to add tabs through the admin cp. If it is a hook, then can you kindly guide me as to how to display a hook on the sidebar. Note i know that there is a hook called Custom Sidebar Blocks, but that i guess for custom html? Thank you.
