I would recommend you give XenForo a try. IPS is definitely more 'well rounded' but Devs have a tendency to hit with DMCA requests. I've been using XenForo for 2 years now and haven't been hit with one yet.

I initially setup IPS for my gaming forum, but devs managed to find my URL and throw me a DMCA request so I have had to move to another forum software. XenForo 2.0 seems to be running well with most of the customisation IPS Addons that communities need.
