I recommend you use Avast Free Antivirus. Used it for the past 5+ years or so and had no problem at all with it. You could also use on the manufacturer's site their referral system and get a year worth of free antivirus for the premium version if you bring enough people.

It depends on personal preference and device you own. Usually iOS works on all versions of iPhones pretty decent for older models and great for newer ones. It is good if you like to keep it simple and don't like customization. Android is great for customization if you are into rooting and such things. The only problem is that on certain devices you do not get updates.
