    more simple than moving forum from the root in admin cp> site feature application> select the star on Forum (aka set as default app), from now on forum will be your home

    what you can do its small import for table, can be a bit of boring process , but worked for me on a disaster situation, copy the old db on a clean db and, on the fresh install of ipb slowly replace the tables you need to have imported, hope its clear >.<
