I use both scripts. SMF has a *very good* internal search engine. MyBB is more "install and forget", as it just works, and seems to be a little more active in terms of development. We have to face, anyway, that forums have lost part of his magic except for specific communities (like this one).

MyBB is actually pretty nice. I use it in several sites. SMF has a _very_ good search engine. PHPBB hasnt evolved so much, but maybe it can suit you if you like "old style".

There are some nice open source tools for project management, like OpenProject (Ruby-powered). Has forums also, not so nice as IPB ones, but I think is better to have a PM tool with forums, than using IPB as a PM tool.

Even Windows 10 is pretty usable, Windows 7 is still more solid and the settings are way more intuitive to guys from the old school (like me). Modern Linux distros have nothing to envy from Win10 or Mac GUI. Linux Mint and Ubuntu are the ones I prefer for desktop use.

Do you have a DLNA server? Which HW and SW did you use? I currently have a Win10 desktop PC with Windows Media Server (non-dedicated) and I was thinking about build a custom dedicated server (PC hardware). Thanks
