This hook will show in board index a box with the last topics/posts made on your forum. You can set how many topics do you want to show, the interval for the list auto update, exclude forums and groups allowed to see the list. To notify you about new topics/posts, this hook uses an effect that will pulsate the list only if some new topic or new post is made. Both are quite good, it would just depend on what you're looking to get out of it. Personally, I prefer IPB since I think it has a lot more customization and features available from all the hooks/mods/etc. so each forum on it is unique. Xenforo is much more simplistic and uniform, so it's easy to get the hang of it.1 point

Try to rebuild the skins, and if u have recently installed new app/hook try to disable it and see the results. This might be happened because of incompatible app/hook or skin for your version of IPB. As you said that this happened also in your default theme, then might be cause of incompatible app/hook. If you don't have any app/hook installed recently, check error logs, and also use support as said @Phun. Best regards1 point

Did you recently upgrade your installation or did you change anything in the skin or did you install an app recently? Have you tried running through the support steps to see if that resolves anything?1 point

i've used both in the past ,each has their own perks etc.. it's all down to personal prefrence tbh , might be worth downloading a nulled copy of each and installing locally and see which you get on best with and enjoy using more,personally as much as i like xenforo i prefer ipboard over it1 point

I'm having some issues. When the list was refreshed, the sequence is mixed up. For example the first topic in the sequence, goes to the bottom and it shows half of the normal topics. I prefer it always shows the same number of topics in the same order. Maybe it has a meaning but at least it had better if there is an option for these to disable them. I have disabled the refreshing entering a big value to refresh. Still great. Thanks for developing. ---Edit--- I use 4.1.11 version of IPB and I'm having more issues. "Honour forum permissions?" option is enabled but the visitors can see unapproved topics in the list (of course they haven't this permission). I have unchecked "Hidden" under "Topic status", despite of hidden topics seem in the list. Except this, I have a suggestion. I use this plugin (https://webflake.sx/files/file/3451-best-answer-on-discussions-forum-104/) and I would also like to see "ANSWERED" prefix here.1 point
