Junior Moderator | Contributor | Expert
WebFlake is seeking knowledgeable, enthusiastic and impartial members who are interested in assisting with our everlasting battle against "spammers", "rule breakers", and general "bad guys"!
Not long ago, we launched our Junior Moderator program that allows us to recruit and evaluate potential full-time Moderators. If you believe you're up for the task, we'd love to hear from you.
What does a Junior Moderator do?
Junior Mods will be tasked with handling daily duties, such as..- Downloading, scanning, and approving (or deleting) submitted resources
- Moving Answered support topics to appropriate forum
- Marking support topics as resolved and moving them
- Locking, moving, and editing various topics
- Flagging spam bots as spam accounts
- Issuing appropriate warnings when necessary
- Reviewing and handling of reports
- Interacting with the community
What can't a Junior Moderator do?
Junior Mods, while granted access to a wide variety of tools and permissions, do have a few limitations, such as..- Inability to soft or hard delete topics / posts
- Inability to hide / unhide topics
- Inability to pin / unpin topics
- Inability to view IP Addresses
Wait, why do we need "Junior" Moderators when the rest of Staff does all of that already?
The Junior Mod program offers us the ability to evaluate potential full-time Moderators with limited access. Everything a Junior Mod does is reversible, therefore no harm can be done by recruiting potentially disastrous applicants (which simply doesn't happen). In the event a Junior Mod impresses us, we will promote them to a full-time position as a Moderator. Should the Junior Mod fail to impress us, we simply move them back to their original usergroup. Are there any perks to the job?
No, and you shouldn't expect any. The position is completely volunteer. You will gain unfettered access to nearly all areas of the forum. You'll also have a shiny new Junior Moderator title and username color affixed to your profile. What are the expectations?
Aside from meeting discretionary criteria, we only ask that you devote a respectable amount of time to fulfilling your role. We won't require you to fill a quota or log a specific amount of hours but if we find that you're failing to meet reasonable standards, you will be dismissed from the team. Also, while a basic understanding of moderation tools is expected, we are fully committed to educating and mentoring you throughout your time as a Junior Moderator. What is this criteria you speak of?
It's completely discretionary. Only Staff are privy to what it is.How long will I be a Junior Moderator?
This will vary by user. We've had Junior Moderators who had immediate impact that couldn't be ignored and earned their promotion within a week. We've also had a few who spent several weeks at the Junior Mod position only to be dismissed or eventually acclimate and earn the promotion to Moderator. Please be aware that performing hundreds of tasks in a week won't guarantee a promotion. We are seeking a variety of characteristics and if you do not possess them, you will not be promoted. Also note that promotions can sometimes be affected by need (or lack thereof) at the Moderator position.Prerequisites
- Must have at least 50 posts
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Must be able to read and write in English
- Must have have a basic understanding of moderation and the tasks associated with it
- Must have a Discord account (and have joined the WebFlake Discord Server) for off-site Staff communication [Microphone preferred, but not needed]
- Must not have held a Junior Moderator position within the last year

What is a Contributor?
Members of the community that have shown a willingness to contribute ample and quality content that are given a unique distinction that allows them to skip past submission queues and get their content to the community as quickly as possible.Do Contributors scan files and approve them?
No. Contributors are responsible for their content and their content alone. Contributors are not a Moderator in any capacity. So, if I upload a bunch of files I will become a Contributor?
No. Contributors must apply and undergo a rigorous evaluation period from Staff. Uploading a bunch of free GFX you found on some third-party site will not earn you the respect a Contributor commands. Quality submissions that are popular with the community, as well as premium content not found anywhere else, will assist you in your application for Contributor. Are there any perks to the job?
Yes. Aside from being able to circumvent the submission queue, Contributors do not have any download caps levied onto them. They are free to download as much as they want, whenever they want. They are also granted access to the entire download database and are also able to access the WebFlake Team forums (as well as our #wf-team Discord channel). What are the expectations?
Aside from meeting discretionary criteria, we only ask that you make a reasonable effort to contribute content on a regular basis. If you stop uploading content for weeks, you will be demoted back to your former member group. We won't require you to fill a quota in terms of content value or content amount, but if we find that you're failing to meet reasonable standards, you will be dismissed from the team. What is this criteria you speak of?
It's completely discretionary. Only Staff are privy to what it is.What happens if a file of mine is deleted for having impermissible, malicious, or otherwise questionable content?
As a Contributor, you will be held to a far higher standard. You must be absolutely certain that any content you upload is clean and permissible on this site. If you include personal copyrights to credit yourself or if you upload "nulled" content from third-party sites, you will lose your access.Prerequisites
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Account must be at least 7 days or older
- Must not have had any files deleted for containing questionable or malicious content
- Must not have had any files deleted for containing personal copyrights or link-backs

What does an Expert do?
Experts will be tasked with handling any and all support requests submitted and will have the ability to edit, hide, move, lock, split, merge, and set the best answer for any support topic located in IPS Support, XenForo Support, WordPress Support, and Legacy Support. Why do we need Experts when Staff does all of that already?
We don't. However, we have plenty of members throughout WebFlake with exceptional skills across a myriad of platforms, software, etc. These users exemplify the type of dedication and passion that any webmaster should aspire to replicate. We feel that these members should be recognized and given additional access to assist them in their endeavors in fulfilling support requests. Are there any perks to the job?

This is not to suggest that we won't monitor our Experts' answers to ensure our users are being provided with safe and accurate responses.
